Provide exposure and visualization of the operative field through retraction, suctioning, irrigation, and tissue handling. Assist with hemostasis using cautery, ligation, clamping, and other techniques. Assist with dissection, suturing, closure of incision layers, and application of dressings as directed by the surgeon. Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain efficient surgical workflow. Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control standards. Post-Operative Duties Assist with the application of dressings, compression garments, and wound care as appropriate. Ensure accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles at case completion. Assist with patient transfer to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) and provide handoff communication. Support post-operative documentation and debriefs. Team & Operational Support Collaborate effectively with surgeons, CRNAs, circulating nurses, and surgical technologists to ensure smooth operations. Assist with maintaining, organizing, and restocking surgical instruments and supplies. Support quality improvement, safety protocols, and compliance with accreditation standards. Qualifications CSFA certification operating room experience, preferably in plastic, cosmetic, or ambulatory surgery. Experience specifically in ambulatory cosmetic/plastic surgery settings. Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, hemostasis, and tissue handling. Current BLS and ACLS certification Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to anticipate surgeon needs. The EMT Apprentice position supports this mission by transporting passengers with medical, physical, emotional, or developmental disabilities and responding to all assigned calls in the most appropriate and efficient manner. It provides the highest standards of patient care while providing a safe and hazard-free environment. The EMT Apprentice reports to the Training and Quality Assurance Manager and, in his/her absence, the Field Operations Supervisor/Operations Manager. Strategic/Transformational Duties and Responsibilities * Provides exceptional customer service as the first point of contact with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay by safely transporting passengers with medical, physical, emotional, or developmental disabilities in a safe, courteous and professional manner. * Participates in the performance quality improvement (PQI) process and uses data to improve services and outcomes. Transactional/Administrative Duties and Responsibilities * Follow predetermined route and/or daily manifest in Hillsborough and/or Pasco counties. * Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure sound vehicle operations. * Ensure the patient is properly secured during transport. * Safely transport individuals in a company vehicle to a designated facility, including physical and emotional well-being. * Complete and maintain proper patient and transportation documentation. * Maintain radio communications with the dispatcher. * Completes required initial and ongoing training as needed. * Performs other such duties as may be assigned by the supervisory team.
