Prepares and properly labels medications being used on the back table during surgical procedures; informs surgeon of syringe contents before providing the syringe to the surgeon. Accurately assist in the circulator role and maintains a safe operating room environment; scrubs for all types of procedures and maintains knowledge of instruments, sutures and equipment needed; effectively functions in the assistant role. Checks OR/PACU equipment, including monitors, crash cart, sterilizers and warming units as assigned and per protocol; prepares instruments for sterilization and accurately operates all sterilizing units within the department; maintains knowledge and implements OR fire safety policy if required; Accurately pulls and sets up for surgical procedures and alerts others of special needs not available at the time of pulling; operates all equipment in the OR needed for surgical procedures such as ESU units, Lights, Tables, monitors, warming devices, and other instruments required.
