We are looking to hire a SurgicalTechnician to join our Operating Room. The SurgicalTechnician is responsible for preparing the operating room for the surgical procedure including the instruments, equipment, and supplies. They must maintain the sterile field during the surgical procedure. Will scrub more general cases which may include general surgery, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and plastics. May also be 2nd, 3rd or 4th scrub in all surgical specialties. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and cultural beliefs of MercyOne.
Schedule:
Full-time, 36 hours up to 40 hours per week.
Shift: Days 0600- 1830 (shift start & end times may vary)
8, 10, or 12-hour shifts options available
Will include "on call" rotation
General Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program.
Or graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency.
CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa. CST certification is required within 18 months of hire, if working in Illinois. LPN license is required if you are a graduate of an LPN program.
No prior experience is required.

Position Summary
Under the direction of Physicians and Staff Nurses, the Surgical Technologist will assist with minimally invasive cosmetic surgical procedures, ensuring sterile setup, maintenance of surgical instruments, proper patient positioning, and ensuring all safety protocols are followed to provide an optimal patient experience.
Position Responsibilities
Prepares surgical area for patient care and anticipates the needs of the surgical team.
Maintain an organized and clean surgical environment, ensuring all tools, supplies, and equipment are accounted for before, during, and after procedures.
Document patient care and surgical procedure details accurately as required by facility protocols under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Adhere to all safety and regulatory standards, including universal precautions and aseptic techniques.
Prepares, operates, and maintains routine and complex equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and surgical procedures.
Provides excellent service to patients, visitors, and fellow staff members.
Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Satisfactory completion of a vocational or military course in surgical technology and/or
Certification as a Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or NCCT).
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) or willing to be enrolled and complete a course upon hire.
Experience in a healthcare environment.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
Two years (2) of Surgical Technologist experience desired.
Previous experience in a surgical or clinical setting, with a preference for experience in cosmetic or minimally invasive procedures.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrates understanding of principles of medical and surgical asepsis and ability to recognize breaks in aseptic technique.
Ability to follow Universal Precautions.
Knowledge and ability to perform CPR and emergency care procedures.

Demonstrates critical thinking skills in relations to anticipating the needs of the patient and surgeon.
