Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) * Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. * Ability to be detail-oriented, perform complex tasks which may be hazardous to the patient's welfare and detect equipment malfunctions. * Knowledge of and complies with all federal, state, and local regulatory radiation requirements. * Ability to work flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability). JOB SUMMARY: Provide appropriate, efficient and timely pre-hospital basic life support care and transportation of the sick and injured in accordance with local, state, national and Acadian Ambulance standards of practice. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. Conducts a careful examination of the patient for signs and symptoms of illness/injury and assists other medical personnel as necessary. Administers prompt and efficient basic life support care within the limits of licensure or certification and in accordance with approved protocols prior to and during transport. Provides a safe and efficient transfer of patient and patient care information to the receiving personnel at the destination. Documents all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports. Obtains and records non-medical patient information as required. Completes other patient documentation and forms as required. Conducts regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure all equipment for which the EMT-Basic is responsible is present, clean and in proper working order. Upon completion of transport, responsible for all assigned duties which will place the ambulance and equipment back in service. Responsible for full knowledge of the ambulance's basic life support equipment and its proper use at all times. Documents and reports all needed repairs to the proper maintenance departments (electronic or mechanical) as well as to supervisors and other ambulance personnel as required. In the absence of other qualified personnel, responsible for the use of basic extrication tools and procedures to gain access to the patient if necessary. Ø Performs duties ensuring patient safety. · Counts sponges, laps, needles, and instruments as indicated with circulating nurse per Policy and Procedure. · Actively participates in the Time Out. · Receives all drugs, and solutions needed for surgery from circulating nurse, checking all labels, expiration dates, and percentage. · When cautery is used, ensures tip is away from patient when not in use. · Clearly labels all medications on field. Ø Communicates with OR Director/OR Supervisor regarding issues or operational conflicts in the department and participates in problem solving. Ø Maintains employee safety. · Uses a neutral receptacle for transferring of sharps to and from surgeon - does not allow hand to hand contact. · Wears eye protection during procedure. · Uses PPE in decontamination of instruments. Ø Maintains supplies and instruments. · Accurately and completely picks supplies needed for scheduled cases. · Rotates stock and checks for expiration dates. · Properly handles instrumentation to maintain function and life of the instrument. · Effectively functions in Central Sterile. · Participates in hospital wide inventory. · Self-directed in completing assignments. · Puts supplies up throughout the day and at end of day. CLS ll (Community Living Specialist) Responsible for carrying out daily training programs for community home residents. Maintains community home in good condition. Ensures the safety and well-being of community home residents, equipment, and facility. Responsible for performing all duties associated with provision of direct care at the level need by each individual community home resident. Adheres to the policies and standards established by STARC and other regulatory agencies. May be required to transport clients. Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
