Job Summary and Responsibilities This job is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care and performance of established tasks and procedures under the supervision of a physically-present and immediately-available Registered Nurse/Provider. An incumbent performs clinical procedures and tasks within scope of practice. Essential Functions Assists in implementing plan of care by performing common clinical procedures and tasks within scope of practice. * Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and clinical techniques, including (but not limited to): * Basic Airway Management * CPR * Vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, oral and rectal temperature, Respirations, and pulse oximetry * Electrocardiogram * Point of care testing * Wound care including suture set-up * Assisting with eye and ear irrigation * Orthopedic splinting * Visual acuity * Suture/staple removal * Assisting with gastric lavage * Assisting with activities of daily living * Peak flow * Breath alcohol * Assists with removal of peripheral IV and urinary catheters * Conducts clinical activities requiring a Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy certification, such as blood glucose checks and phlebotomy. * Decontamination/Washdown with Level C Bio-Haz Suit and powered respirator Job Requirements Education and Experience: High School Graduate or High School GED and completion of one of the following that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program OR Medical Assistant program OR Certified Nursing Assistant Program, OR Licensed Practical Nurse program OR completion of one year of nursing school.
