Job Title: Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Department: Emergency Medical Services Hours Per Week: Per Diem Schedule: Variable shift/days, weekends, and holidays; 12 hour shifts SUMMARY: An Advanced Emergency Medical Technician provides immediate basic and advanced medical care and transport of patients during emergencies, playing a critical role in stabilizing and ensuring safe transport to medical facilities. Interpret oral, written and diagnostic form instructions, including calculating weight and volume ratios. Lift and move patients, often in challenging environments, such as extreme terrain or temperatures. Participate in continuous education to stay current with medical protocols and enhance skills. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Expanded): Work in a variety of uncontrolled and potentially hazardous environments (indoor/outdoor, inclement weather, confined spaces). Maintain physical readiness to assist in lifting/moving patients using stretchers (up to 250 lbs with partner assist), medical equipment, and gear. Walk, kneel, crawl, and climb over uneven terrain or in emergency conditions. Transport essential medical equipment (e.g., EKG monitor, ALS/med bags) without assistance. Remain calm and focused in high-stress, emotionally charged situations. The Impact You Can Make Team Impact As a member of the healthcare team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the OB Technician assists nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care in the Snuggery Suite, taking into account the patient's special or age-related needs. The OB Technician serves as the scrub technician in Cesarean Sections and selected OB/GYN procedures. This position assumes responsibility for a safe environment and appropriate utilization of resources; directs and performs cleaning, maintenance and processing of instruments and equipment; and restocks and prepares rooms within the Unit. The OB Tech also provides rapid response to patient/family needs and requests. How You Will Fulfill Your Potential Responsibilities Serves as the scrub technician for Cesarean Sections and selected OB/GYN procedures: Creates and maintains a sterile field Provides equipment and supplies based on patient needs Handles and counts sponges, sharps and instruments Assists in the ordering, care, preparation and maintenance of sterile and unsterile supplies and equipment. Reacts appropriately in patient care emergencies. Assists RN in updating physician preference cards. Transports and assists the surgical team with positioning of patients. Education/Accredited Programs High School Graduate or GED. Experience in patient care preferred. Experience in scrub role preferred. License Practical Nurse/LPN or completion of OR Technician Program required Knowledge of surgical aseptic technique and basic Operating Room procedures and equipment preferred. Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Must meet NYS requirements for position BLS certification (or obtained within specified timeframe from date of hire) Skills/Abilities Able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing with other nursing personnel, patients and physicians. Ability to work effectively with other nursing personnel, patients, physicians, and members of other departments under the direction of a RN. Ability to recognize patient care problems, react appropriately in-patient care emergencies and communicate pertinent information to the responsible RN. Ability to complete basic mathematical calculation. Dependable Demonstrated adaptability to change Exercises safe judgement in decision making. Salary Range The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $28.00 to $42.00 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
