EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program, technical program or related. Must be certified to perform CPR 1-2 years of clinical experience in a related field. BLS certification ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures. Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment. Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly. Get patients ready for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites. Transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile surgical "drapes." Observe patients' vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves. Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants. Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings. Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and help operate diagnostic equipment. After an operation, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room. The scope of practice includes preoperative patient care management, intraoperative surgical first assisting, and postoperative patient care management. As a Surgical Technologist at Viewmont Surgery Center, you'll be an integral part of the surgical team, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to ensure seamless surgeries. Responsibilities: Prepare the operating room for surgery like a rockstar, setting up equipment, instruments, and supplies with precision and speed Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses during procedures, maintaining a calm and focused demeanor even in high-pressure situations. Sterilize instruments and equipment with military precision, adhering to strict infection control protocols. Manage patient records and charts with ease, accurately documenting vital information and updates. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient patient care, from pre-op to post-op. Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, and cut sutures, and perform other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and colleagues alike. Stay current with the latest techniques, technologies, and best practices in surgical technology.
