The Certified surgical technician will assist the surgeon during all operative and invasive procedures. Assures the Operating Room is adequately prepared for surgical procedures. Monitors Par levels of all surgical equipment and supplies in conjunction with other members of the surgical team. Manages material and supply ordering, receiving, and inventory control. Supervisory Relationships: Reports to Director of Nursing Essential Duties & Responsibilities: · Provides patients with explanation and verbal reassurance, as necessary. · Adapts procedures to meet the individual needs of the patient within reason and by delegation of the surgeon. · Prepares the operating room in a timely and efficient manner with all instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment necessary for each individual procedure. · Demonstrates competence and care in specimen handling. · Assists in positioning, prepping, and draping patients for the surgical procedure. · Accurately completed surgical counts (sponge, instrument, needle, etc.) and follows facility protocol if a discrepancy is found.
