The Surgical Technician prepares the operating room by sterilizing and setting up the necessary equipment for the procedure. Responsible for assembling all equipment and ensuring it functions properly. The Surgical Technician handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technician has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The Surgical Technician has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is vigilant in the maintenance of the sterile field. He/she will perform other related duties as needed to maintain department cost containment, efficiency, as well as quality performance. : What you will do Actively works to promote and maintain an organizational culture that enhances our standing as the best place to work and receive care. At the end of cases, cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists with stripping, cleaning, and setting up the OR suite for own/other's cases with efficiency and speed. Assists with OR flow as required. Assists in the maintenance of equipment and instrumentation to facilitate durability and availability for future procedures. Contributes to meeting the fluctuating staffing needs of the department as evidenced by flexibility in own assignment and work schedule. To be successful as an oral surgery assistant, you should be highly organized and attentive to patients' needs. Surgical Responsibilities: Assist Surgeon during consultations and treatment. Basic lab duties (Impressions, pouring up/trimming models). Proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols Autoclave operation and function Surgical tray set-up Identification of instruments used in the clinic. Room set up/break down for IV anesthesia and surgery. Seat patient and perform pre-op set-up. Review charts. Support airway for sedated patients. Ability to circulate and retrieve instruments. Excellent patient care & communication. Non-Surgical Responsibilities: Restock supplies, forms, handouts, and rooms. Take vital signs. Familiar with all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, etc.) Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. personal protection) Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and charting. Make follow up phone calls to patients. May take X-Rays. Properly closing and opening the office each day (Tanks, Suction, Xray) Greet patients and make them feel comfortable. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Current CPR/BLS certification required. Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) required.
