Responsibilities
• Assist the Party Chief and/or Instrument Man as instructed.
• Never leave the equipment unattended.
• Loads all needed equipment into the vehicles before heading out to the various properties that the crew will survey during the day. Unloads the specified equipment into the crew designated area to allow for daily inventory of the crew equipment.
• Help maintain all equipment in good working order and to notify the appropriate staff member(s) when equipment needs repair or replacement.
• Clear any brush or trees away from the survey line.
• Measures how far different points are from each other, using a tape or electronic equipment.
• Helps with the various pieces of survey equipment
• Search for section corners, property irons, and survey points.
• Holding the prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points. Using a level, the rodman will place the rod vertically in place - or plumb it - to ensure a correct starting point for the next measurement.
• Lay out stakes to prepare for horizontal and vertical survey measurements.
Qualifications
• Must be physically able to work long hours and carry heavy loads.
• Possess good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication skills.
• Attendance, punctuality, organization, reliability, and eagerness to learn are essential requirements.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.
Requires a pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in the employer's random drug and alcohol testing program.

Assist Party Chief in creating surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way and control survey tasks.
Responsibilities

* Holds level or stadia rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes for
* mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys. Place stakes at designated points and drives them into ground at specified elevation.
* Cuts and clears brush and trees or other possible obstructions from line of survey.
* Measures distance between survey points with steel or cloth tape or surveyor's chain.
* Marks measuring points with markers, paint sticks, tacks, scratches or stakes.
* Load/unload equipment and prepare for daily jobs.
* Help calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain or current installations.
* Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite‐based global positioning systems (GPS).
* Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
* Adjust surveying instruments to maintain their accuracy.
* Assume other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as assigned
* Exercises own initiative in seeking additional work, or helping others complete their job assignments upon completion of regular work assignment
* Continually work to sharpen skills and improve on the understanding of surveying
* Punctual in work assignments
* Conduct self in a professional manner in the presence of clients and co-workers
* Meet project schedules and budgets

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

* At least 1 years of experience working in the construction field with layout or survey responsibilities or equivalent in similar craft.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
* Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals
* Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
* Must have a developing knowledge of layout and survey work
* Ability to understand and follow directions.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must be able and willing to travel.
• Field positions will be offered per diem to assist with travel. Daily and/or weekly travel will be required for the duration of the project.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• A minimum of 1 years total pipeline survey experience highly preferred.
• Experience in controlling the function of surveying instruments, calculators and/or various computer equipment and technology.
• Trimble equipment experience a plus.
• Must be physically able to work long hours and carry heavy loads.
• Possess good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication skills.
• Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential to these positions.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather and natural elements with working in Texas.
• Overtime and weekend work will be required throughout the duration of this project.
• Valid Drivers License required, must be able to pass MVR and clean/insurable driving record.
• Successful passing of drug test, fit-for-work light physical, I-9 verification, MVR and background check required as pre-employment terms.
• Successful candidates will also be required to participate in random drug testing as required by the client and company policy(ies).
