Each year, more than 60,000 agricultural workers and their family members work in Ohio. They are involved in harvesting various crops, including cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, radishes, and peppers. Additionally, they work in packing sheds, grading stations, nurseries, greenhouses, food processing plants, and animal production facilities. Agricultural workers often face legal challenges due to violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, and other federal and state protective statutes. They may also encounter issues related to taxes, immigration, environmental hazards, sexual harassment, government benefits, housing, domestic violence, civil rights, education, and more. Position Responsibilities The primary responsibility of the Outreach Workers is to visit agricultural housing and labor camps in Ohio during the evening hours. Their role is to inform workers about our services and their rights, and to accept applications for legal assistance.
