The Lycoming County EMS Council and the Williamsport Hospital started developing the initial paramedic program in early 1977.
1978 – As the community expanded, the demand for Emergency Medical Services in Susquehanna Township grew with it.
On February 2, 1979, the first Paramedic Training Program in Lycoming County begins.
On may 19th 1980, the Dauphin County Commissioners unanimously approved an EMS deployment plan that would bring enhanced Advanced Life Support services to the citizens of Dauphin County.
1983 – On March 14th Susquehanna Township Ambulance Association changed its name a final time, incorporating itself as Susquehanna Township Emergency Medical Services, Inc while maintaining its 501c3 status.
In December, 1984 Williamsport Hospital takes over city Ambulance duties from WBF. There were protests outside of Williamsport Hospital from the Williamsport Bureau of Fire Union.
2011 – In order to provide the best possible Emergency Medical Services to our community, STEMS made the difficult transition into an Advanced Life Support agency.
2017 – STEMS underwent another change in an effort to enhance ALS availability in our primary coverage zones.
