    Sussex County Community College (SCCC) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Adjunct Welding Instructor to join our Applied Technologies Department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in welding processes and safety practices to support student learning, skill development, and workforce readiness. This position is ideal for experienced welders who are passionate about teaching and preparing the next generation of trades professionals. Key Responsibilities * Provide engaging, hands-on instruction across various welding processes, which may include: SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, oxy-fuel cutting, and blueprint reading. * Deliver course content aligned with SCCC curriculum, program outcomes, and industry standards. * Maintain a safe instructional environment and enforce all shop, tool, and equipment safety protocols. * Assess student performance through practical demonstrations, assignments, and evaluations. * Maintain accurate attendance records, grades, and required documentation. * Support student learning through availability outside of class as needed (office hours or equivalent). * Collaborate with program leadership to ensure continuous improvement of welding coursework and lab spaces. * Available for day and evening classes. Minimum Qualifications * Associate degree, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. * Demonstrated proficiency and industry experience in multiple welding processes. * Strong commitment to student success, safety, and teaching excellence. * Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. All instructors are responsible for teaching their assigned courses using a departmentally established course outline based on the master syllabus and assessing the course learning outcomes on the syllabus. The Learning Management System (LMS) that we use for is Canvas. Prior knowledge of Canvas or similar learning platform is preferred. Although not a requirement strong technical and computer proficiency is recommended. * Prior teaching experience and knowledge of online instruction strongly preferred. * NJ, NY, and PA residence recommended. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Teaches classroom lecture-style instruction, (includes using technology such as; automated presentations, computer generated slides, videos, college online interface). * Assessment of student progress and success in the classroom and with individual course assignments. * Advise students and mentor students through individual and group interactions * Hands-on lab instruction and supervision. * Ability to have final course grades calculated and submitted by the semester deadline as needed. * Staff and support office hours for student consultation and tutoring. * Delivery of course content may be in-person, on-line and hybrid based on course needs. * Selected applicants will be required to comply with current College policy and procedures related to COVID masking requirements, vaccinations and weekly testing. * Teaching opportunities may include day, evenings, weekend classes * Year round teaching opportunities available based on need. * Salary / pay is based on instructional hours taught in the semester. * Understanding and commitment to serving a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the campus community. * Participate in required adjunct duties. * Teach courses in Digital Design, Image Optimization, Logo Design, Digital Content Creation, Visual Literacy and Web Design. * Give technical instruction in the areas of digital imaging, specifically preparing images for use on the web. * Provide instruction on the creation of logos and other vector assets for use on the web. * Give instruction in the creation of wireframes and mock-ups for websites. * Teach basic HTML 5 and CSS and use of text editor software and basic visual literacy as it relates to images, signs and symbols used online. * Master's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields. from an accredited educational institution * Proven instructional experience and dedication to student success * Experience teaching in Digital Design, Image Optimization, Logo Design, Digital Content Creation, Visual Literacy and Web Design. * At least 5 years teaching * Community College Teaching experience * Instructional experience teaching both in person and online courses * Knowledge and experience with Blackboard learning management system or similar learning/advising management systems Adaptability: Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.
