Sustainability consultant job description

Navistar's Office of Environment & Sustainability has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Sustainability Manager. The Environmental Sustainability Manager will be a part of the Office of Environment & Sustainability within the General Counsel's Office and play a key role in developing and expanding the sustainability program at Navistar. In this position you will be responsible for defining and executing strategies that implement our sustainability strategy, based in two key focus area of decarbonization and circular business.
Responsibilities


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing measures to implement the sustainability strategy.
Helping to develop environmental sustainability metrics and targets.
Working with people across the company to measure their environmental impact and develop strategies to address those impacts.
Working with global colleagues in affiliated companies to harmonize sustainability strategies.
Ensuring that sustainability data is collected in a timely and sound manner.
Developing metrics and reporting tools to keep top management informed on sustainability key performance metrics.


Minimum Requirements



Bachelor's degree At least 5 years of Sustainability or ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) experience

OR

Master's degree At least 3 years of Sustainability or ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) experience

OR

At least 7 years of Sustainability or ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) experience

Thornton Tomasetti, Inc., Inc. is seeking a Sustainability Consultant to work in the Portland, Maine office.

The candidate is well-organized, possessing the ability to coordinate consulting on multiple projects and manage project team members to achieve desired results. Candidates must be proficient in sustainable building strategies and systems, and familiar with both commercial and residential construction techniques.

The candidate fully embraces the integrative design approach to high-performance, green buildings. Candidates must be analytical with the ability to understand and articulate how details fit together in the big picture. The ideal candidate will also have excellent oral and written communication skills and enjoy working with diverse project teams and building owners.

Responsibilities

• Primary focus on New England based architects and developers with the ability to collaborate on projects across the country and around the globe as opportunities arise with our clients.
• Participate in and support the development of practice-wide sustainability services.
• Support projects in Sustainability and/or energy optimization.
• Collaborate and support sustainable strategies and energy optimization services to architects and owners/developers.
• Perform sustainability analysis on projects of all scales.
• Perform and/or support certification work on projects of all scale: LEED, WELL, fitwel, Passive House, Living Building Challenge.
• Support synergies with other TT Practices: Structure, Facade, Renewal, Applied Science, Protective Design, and Transportation.
• Support synergies with CORE Group.
• Work with the NY Practice leader to network and build relationships in the NYC area. Attend conferences, events, and join committees (when appropriate)

Qualifications

• Background in building science, or architectural, engineering, and construction fields
• 1-5 years of experience in sustainability consulting
• At a minimum, a Bachelor's degree and a LEED Green Associate credential or LEED Accredited Professional or ability to obtain credential within six months of employment
• Experience with other third-party certifications such as LEED, WELL, Passive House, Living Building Challenge
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes
• Passion for sustainability
• Team oriented and the ability to work independently
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel
• Technical knowledge in the building industry and ability to navigate all aspects of construction documentation
• Solidly computer literate and able/willing to work in a PC office
• Open to learning new things and excited to share knowledge with others

Arup is seeking a sustainability consultant to join its dynamic and growing team in Boston to work on a wide array of sustainability projects. The practice includes both buildings and strategic planning work with a strong technical focus. This role will be focused on existing and new building projects, energy, carbon, and sustainability advice for buildings, leading certification processes, and developing innovative design strategies to achieve a high level of building performance for environmental and human health outcomes.

+ Advising clients on green building design, technology and ratings systems (LEED, WELL, Fitwel, Passive House, Living Building Challenge, SITES)

+ Developing and communicating sustainable building concepts through strong graphics skills for internal and external clients

+ Multifaceted analysis of building design strategies using 3D modeling and analysis software like Rhino, Grasshopper, and energy modeling software with a fundamental understanding of the underlying physics

+ Tracking rating systems and building strategy processes, writing and editing reports, and facilitating/presenting LEED or sustainability frameworks to clients, design teams, and contractors

+ Researching architectural materials and technology, building services systems, green building and urban policy, and social and human comfort issues

+ Design to manage energy, water, and waste

**Requirements:**

+ Hold a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering or a closely related field. A Master's degree in a similar field is preferred

+ 2+ years experience professional experience as architect, engineer, or consultant in the built environment

+ Proficient in the use of design software, such as Rhino, Grasshopper, Ladybug, Honeybee, DIVA, SketchUp, etc.

+ Building energy & resource use analysis, including the use of specialized building energy simulation software such as EnergyPlus, IES, or EQuest is preferred.

+ Have familiarity with sustainability rating systems especially LEED, WELL and Fitwel, GHG reporting protocols, energy and/or climate analysis software

+ LEED Accredited Professional or similar accreditation is preferred

+ Be a creative, motivated and technically-minded individual that is able to work both independently, with limited oversight and seamlessly across a multi-disciplinary team
