He completed his residency and year as chief resident in family medicine at the San Jose Medical Center Family Practice Residency, affiliated with Stanford University of School of Medicine. He concurrently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine in biomedical informatics, and family medicine research at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine.
