SWCA's Client Services internship position will provide the opportunity to develop a better understanding of our environmental consulting business and the business development profession. This position will have reporting and communication requirements to our Client Services Business Line Director - Water. This position can be based in any SWCA office, and we will consider both office and remote-based candidates. Client Services Intern positions require a demonstrated interest in clientele interface, a good attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, and good communication skills. These positions provide great opportunities for a business development student to enter and launch a career within their field, supported by leadership focused on the professional development of team members. This internship will occur during the summer 2025 (June 3rd - August 15th). Candidates who can start earlier than June 2025 will be considered and those who can remain past August may provide additional value. In addition to project work, the internship program includes regularly scheduled presentations by SWCA leaders. The employee receives assignments from the supervisor, who defines objectives, priorities, and deadlines, and assists the employee with unusual situations that do not have clear precedents. Performs legal research regarding HACLA litigation or transactional matters under attorney supervision; prepares legal education and training materials for Legal staff and employees throughout the agency; and prepares and updates reports and correspondence. Assists in the development and implementation of agency policies and procedures; interprets federal or state statutes as well as HACLA policies under attorney supervision. Assists in the review and revision of existing agency policies and procedures as well as the review, revision and creation of forms and documents to ensure they are compliant with law and best practices. Assists with records retention in the department and throughout the agency. Assists with discovery and unlawful detainer actions under the supervision of an attorney. Works with other departments and agencies to gather and disseminate information. Researches best practices of legal departments and public housing agencies. Develops and maintains departmental databases, records, and documentation; completes, types, copies, and files standardized documents; informs supervisor of policy and procedural activities MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Either (1) enrollment in an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited school of law or (2) graduation from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited school of law and eligibility to take the California State Bar Examination.
