All activities will be performed under the supervision of a Surgical Technologist (ST) or Registered Nurse (RN). **Responsibilities:** + Post-Operative: - Tear down sterile set-up; use case cart to separate and transport used and unused items to correct destinations - Prepare the OR for EVS personnel - Restock the OR. + Intra-Operative: - Actively participate in the Time Out - Efficiently pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants. Hold retractors or instruments, cut sutures, sponge or suction the operative site as directed. - Handle sharps appropriately - Participate in the prevention of unplanned retained foreign items (counts) - Properly care for specimens: collect, label, maintain, handoff - Correctly handle all medications: receive, verify, label, track quantity used + Ensure a clean, safe environment through continual alertness to safety hazards. + Pre-Procedure: - Prepare the OR by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes and sterile solutions. Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment. Adjust and check equipment to ensure it is working properly. - Assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves.
