The Water Safety Instructor is responsible for the instruction, development, and evaluation of swim class participants. Must be able to proficiently demonstrate all swimming skills and techniques required for lessons. Job Qualifications and Skills Ability to work with children Excellent communication and organizational skills High energy Strong work ethic Job Title: Swim Instructor and Lifeguard Reports to: Deck Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-exempt Summary: Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Evaluates students' progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner. Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students' swim skills. Acts as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction. Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter. Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines. Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork. Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours. Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider required. Swimming experience is preferred. Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required before starting work, but obtaining these certifications are available in-house prior to beginning work. Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate. Job Description Lifeguard Job Responsibilities: Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed. Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies. Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary. Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required. Assists in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment, assists with emergencies and documenting records of accidents If you plan on becoming certified please do not wait to apply as we accept applications on a first come first serve basis Lifeguard Qualifications -Current Red Cross or equivalent lifeguarding certification or ability to receive certification before the season starts -Must be atleast 15 years old
