The Evelyn Kirrane Aquatics Center in Brookline is seeking several Part-time Lead Swim Instructors and Swim Instructor Aides to join our team at our beautiful Aquatics Center, boasting three pools and space for athletics, health, wellness, and camp activities for the public. The Aquatics Center features a six lane, 25 yard lap pool, a shallow water (three to four feet deep) lesson pool, and a 12 foot deep diving well with two 1-meter diving boards. Lead Swim Instructors require a current certification in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (preferred) and/or experience teaching progressive-level group swim lessons. Title: Head Athletic Coach Description: To instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success, an increased level of self-esteem, and an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship. Supervision of participants is necessary so that the well-being of the players and the school is preserved. This is a one-year position. Performance Responsibilities and Duties (include but are not limited to): Reports to the Athletic Director and/or Principal as appropriate. * Work closely with the Athletic Director in planning and scheduling a regular program of sports practice and interscholastic contests. * Establish with the assigned staff the fundamental philosophy, skill, and technique training appropriate for student-athletes participating in the particular sport. * Have knowledge of existing local, league, and state sports regulations and oversees the consistent implementation of such using proper administrative channels. * Maintain and provide, as assigned, all appropriate documentation and record keeping to fulfill system and/or state requirements including, but not limited to, individual physical examinations, interscholastic registration/permission/medical forms, equipment/uniform inventories and the like. * Monitor the well-being of players and safeguard school facilities and property in which the assigned sport is conducted; this includes supervision of players at practices, games, while on transportation vehicles and until all players are known to have departed for their homes. * Oversee and monitor the appropriate and respectful use of all school facilities, sports equipment, and school property inclusive of general cleanliness and the security of such at all times that student-athletes are present. * Work closely with the Athletic Director in the issuance, collection, inventory and storage of all sport related equipment, supplies, and uniforms. * Participate with the Athletic Director in the development of the budget and recommends the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms in this budget process as appropriate to the particular sport. * Monitor student-athlete academic progress and other performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the particular sport season per state and district regulations. * Enforce good school citizenship and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and participates in due process procedures concerning potential penalties for the breach of such standards by individual student-athletes. * Promote by example: loyalty, leadership, dedication, physical conditioning, sportsmanship, cooperation, playing skill and personal responsibility. * Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the involved sport and oversee the coaching provided by other involved staff in the particular sports program. * Maintain first aid certification and current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. * Foster good public relations with news media, parents, officials, booster clubs, volunteers, fans and other school staff. * Contact local newspapers with results of contest regardless of winning or losing. Part-time Description Part- Time Job Purpose Waves swim instructors are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all children assigned to your classes. By accepting this role, you agree to deliver this expectation. Waves swim instructors follow the established protocols, progressions as designed purposefully to advance children through a lesson plan. Job Responsibility Ensure swim station are safe, set-up and equipment with the necessary teaching & training tools. Be initiative-taking, hazards must be reduced. Do NOT assume someone else, especially the management team knows something is broken, about to break or needs to be replaced. Use your voice. Review your assigned student list with the Deck Coordinator for any special situations/requests. Understand ad execute a smooth transition between each class - know your rotation. Strictly follow the WAVES Swim School Lesson curriculum. Provide a safe, fun swimming lesson experience. Teach from a side profile. Set the standard for behavior at the start of your shift. Teach children about the pool environment, pool rules. Be engaging, plan progressions, be prepared for each student and their progression. Determine when a child is ready to progress to the next level. Congratulate the child and parent. Discuss how to move to the next level. Contribute to the growth of the program by encouraging child to advance through the swim team level. Have a clear understanding of the Aquatics Swim Program progression, from Ripples to Swim Team. Attend and contribute to staff training meetings. If a Lead/Mentor instructor, guide assigned instructors to the next level of understanding how to teach swimming. Job Profile Be water enthusiasts.
