Instructors should be available to teach at least one weekday evening (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM) and one weekend morning (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) throughout our 12-week trimester. Classes range from 30 to 40 minutes, and instructors will play a key role in helping children build the confidence and skills needed for a lifetime of enjoyment in the water. Primary Responsibilities Instruct swim classes with energy, enthusiasm, and a clear, animated presence that engages swimmers of all levels. Demonstrate punctuality by setting up your teaching area ahead of time, checking in at the front desk for any updates, and beginning and ending each class promptly. Apply knowledge of swim technique and water safety; a background in competitive swimming or teaching lessons is helpful but not required. Follow the Chelsea Piers Swim School curriculum and be able to demonstrate in-water drills and the four competitive strokes confidently. Manage class structure effectively based on swimmers' skill levels, and communicate technical points clearly and age-appropriately. Be a team player - support your fellow instructors and be flexible in adjusting to different class needs or pool assignments. Prepare for each class by knowing your students, tracking their progress, and keeping tidy, accessible notes. Complete progress reports and report cards by program deadlines to provide valuable feedback to families. Compensation: $18 - $24 per hour, depending on experience Schedule: Part-time; Ideally one weekday evening and one weekend morning per week. Classes run about 30-40 minutes from 4:00pm-6:00pm on weekday evenings; 8:00am-12:00pm on weekend mornings.
