Being a swim instructor, you will be provided the training on the British Swim School program to teach swim lessons to children and adults, starting at 3-months old, that is gentle, fun, and progressive. You will be assigned to a class schedule developed by manager(s) and interact with swimmers, and parents and/or guardians. Your Typical Responsibilities: Reports directly to and supports the Aquatics Manager and/or Business Owner(s). Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with British Swim School training and program standards, maintaining certifications throughout employment. Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings (4pm-8pm), weekends (8am- 1pm), as required by business needs. Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and be in the water for the duration of the shift. Minimum Qualifications: Experience as a swim instructor required High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion. Enthusiastic personality. Comfortable in and around the water. Must know the four swimming strokes. Must maintain certifications throughout the length of employment. Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with children. Swimming experience: 1-2 years preferred but not required. ALS instructors are tasked with delivering high-quality education and training to prepare students for state and national certification exams. Instructors should be well-acquainted with the program's objectives and demonstrate the ability to follow a structured instructional plan. Additionally, they must have the necessary credentials for the subjects they teach, whether in a laboratory setting or as part of an educational program. Instructors are expected to regularly assess students' progress in meeting the overall program requirements. They perform their duties under the supervision of the lead instructor or TC staff, particularly within the laboratory environment. Their responsibilities include setting up training equipment, cleaning and maintaining that equipment, and organizing and storing it after use. AHA BLS course instructor Must be or willing to be NAEMT Instructor in PHTLS Must be able to obtain DC DOH Instructor certification upon hire Provide high-fidelity simulations to students Manage accreditation and recordkeeping by AHA or other accrediting bodies requirements Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other software programs Provide course records for accuracy; issue BLS certification cards Monitor course feedback through review of course paperwork and (in coordination with the Training Staff) institutes changes where needed Communicates with contracted instructors as well as the Training Center Staff regarding course quality assurance, skills deficiencies or other course delivery problems Ensures training equipment readiness through weekly checks and decontamination procedures, including manikin preparation To plan, organize, and instruct courses Ensures adherence to policies and procedures to maintain high quality instruction Assists post-course processing and general administrative duties as permissive of their teaching schedule Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education A minimum of 2 years of college coursework in one Education, Healthcare, Nursing, EMS Management, or a related field, or a combination of education and training that will allow the individual to be successful. Licenses/Certifications Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider credentials Preferred- Current and valid National Association of EMS Educators Level 2 certification. Experience A minimum of two (2) years of field or clinical experience as a healthcare provider or pre-hospital provider Physical Requirements Sit, stand, bend, reach, and walk for long periods of time in a clinical setting.
