The J swim instructor will be responsible for the direct service and implementation of JCC Aquatics Learn to Swim program, private lessons, and any J enrichments program. Compensation: - WSI Certified $12-$18/hour based on experience - Non WSI certified $10-$11.75/hour based on experience DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ADMINISTRATION Assisting in record keeping and progress reports for instructional aquatics classes and enrichment classes. Temporary Description Reports To: Aquatics Director This position is responsible for successfully teaching members of all ages and abilities how to in a safe, supportive, and development-focused environment. Instructors are expected to deliver high-quality lessons, maintain strong communication with members, and uphold the standards of The Briar Club, and The Briar Club Aquatics Program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide consistent, high quality swimming lessons on a regular basis and be an integral member of the staff by involving yourself in The Briar Club Aquatic Program. Instruct a progressive swimming lesson program, as outlined by Aquatics Management. Prepare and follow lesson plans for instruction prior to each lesson Review and update the web schedule on a daily basis for new lessons and or cancellations. Must abide by all Briar Club rules and policies. All lessons and cancellations from an instructor must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance. Must show up for work on time and follow work schedule. Maintain records of attendance and billing for all swim lessons. Familiarize yourself with basic rules and safety standards and adhere to them strictly. Maintain a positive, member-focused attitude, demonstrating professionalism and strong communication with swimmers and families. Ensure all lesson equipment is set up and returned properly. Participate in ongoing training, shadowing, and monthly staff meetings to stay current with instructional methods and program expectations. PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Under the direct supervision of the Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Manager, assists in maintaining the orderly and day-to-day activities of the Municipal Swimming Pool. Oversees pool guests, prevents emergency situations to best of ability, maintains discipline, and ensures comfort and pleasure of the guests. DUTIES: Supervises and observes swimmers and guests at all times to ensure their safety. Is responsible for performing appropriate emergency rescues on all persons in trouble. Works with a team to ensure the safety or facility guests during normal operating hours and emergency situations.
