Setup/put away equipment and maintain an organized pool environment.
Enforce all established pool rules during and in-between lessons
Follow established emergency procedures and respond appropriately in an emergency situation
Arrive on time (15 minutes prior to start of lessons)
Find substitutes as needed and inform your supervisor.
Effectively communicate with parents, and/or participants, staff and aquatics coordinator.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the aquatics coordinator.
Attend all required aquatics staff in-service training and meetings.
Education/Experience:
Age 16 or older
Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Must maintain certifications during employment with district
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of stroke mechanics and ability to correct participant strokes

Anticipated Work Schedule: This is a part-time, non-benefited position that will work less than 20 hours per week; work shifts will primarily be summer day time, evening and/or weekend hours.

Foley Public Schools/Community Education Foley Public Schools/Community Education is accepting applications for our winter swimming lessons staff and public open swim hours. Positions available include: swim lesson instructors, lifeguards, and swim instructor aides.

Job Descriptions:
Swim Instructor-Water Safety Instructor (Red Cross WSI certification required) Facilitate the teaching of group and/or private lessons, according to the pool curriculum. Evaluate swimmers for pre-testing, mid session reports, testing and end of session evaluations. At times, work with a swim aide and provide instruction, redirection and feedback
Lifeguard (certification required)- Oversee the supervision and safety of all swimming groups in the pool during swim lessons, open swim, water aerobics and pool parties. Provide water rescue and first aid in the case of any incident and facilitate any documentation that is required. Make sure that pool and safety equipment is up to date and ready for use before and after any group uses the pool. At times, may help aid any WSI in teaching a group swim lesson.
Swim Instructor Aide- Under the direct supervision of the Swim Instructor, help aid in the teaching of group lessons according to the pool curriculum. Help the Swim Instructor evaluate swimmers for pre-testing, mid session reports, testing and end of session evaluations. Be responsible for the handling of pool equipment before and after lessons.
