The swim instructor is responsible for the safety of each class and teaching swim lessons to students. The swim instructors works to build confidence for students in the water, using the MSS curriculum. They are able to communicate with students, parents and staff members. Swim instructors welcome feedback and are a continuous learner. They will report to the Deck Supervisor and Aquatics Director during shifts and provide support throughout the pool deck as needed.

MSS offers paid training at and a starting wage of $18-$25 per hour once you are assigned classes on your own. Starting wage is negotiable with prior experience. This is a part time position, 10-20 hours. There is opportunity to learn other roles creating a full time position.

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, crouch or swim for up to 5 hours in the water Ability to lift, hold, and/or move equipment or small child up to 50 pounds Minimum 2 years of high school - must be 16 years or older Can commit to a minimum of 1 year and 2 shifts per week Afternoons and weekends required Ability to follow all COVID related policies

Imagine Swimming is NYC's premier learn-to-swim school, sharing a love of the water from infants to adults. Imagine was founded in 2002 by Casey Barrett, a Canadian Olympian and All-American, and Lars Merseburg, a member of the German National Swim Team who met in New York City after completing their NCAA and international swimming careers.

What We Are Looking For
Imagine Swimming is currently seeking Swim Instructors who can work weekdays and weekends at our locations in Manhattan and our location in Brooklyn in Crown Heights. You must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Previous aquatic teaching experience of 2-3 years is required and a competitive swimming background is a plus. Most importantly, we are seeking educators who emphasize individuality in the belief that it's the Singer, not the Song, and the presentation of the lesson is everything.

Job DescriptionSalary: $13-$15 per hour

ABOUT US: The Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning public agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational facilities, pools, programs, events, parks and open spaces. The Water Works is an indoor water park that is open year-round. Features include water slides, diving pool, lap pool, water playground, whirlpool and more!

JOB SUMMARY: Swim Instructors will provide swimming instruction to students of various ages and ability levels. The Swim Instructor is responsible for maintaining an enjoyable, safe and effective aquatic environment. Duties include: providing swim lessons and evaluating students’ progress, interacting with parents/guardians on the activities and development of the students’ swim skills, supervising of pool facility and patrons, rule enforcement, and customer service. Responsibilities also include performing of basic maintenance duties.

LOCATION : The Water Works Indoor Water Park, 505 N. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg

QUALIFICATIONS: The best applicants will have a friendly, outgoing personality with the ability to demonstrate a safety consciousness. Ideal candidates must understand the limitations of the students and make every effort to accommodate each student’s individual needs. Lifeguard certification is not required to apply. Lifeguard certification training will be made available, and it is encouraged upon hiring. Regular and reliable attendance is a must.

SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a year-round position to begin immediately. Scheduling is flexible and will vary but typical work schedule is approximately 4-5 shifts per week (about 15-25 hours per week). Available shifts include weekday evenings and weekend mornings. Hiring rate is $13-$15 per hour.
