Essential Job Responsibilities: * Teach Swimming: Provide daily swim instruction to campers ages 3-14 at various skill levels. * Complete weekly progress reports for all campers and other required paperwork * Pool Operations: Implement proper pool procedures for opening, water quality (testing, chlorine, etc.), and closing. * Safety & Positive Group Management: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers with an emphasis on positive behavior and effective group management. Promptly report any concerns to the Site Director. * Teamwork: Work effectively with other Lifeguard/Swim Instructors and share various responsibilities * Be the Ultimate Role Model: Supervise campers, while fostering a positive, welcoming, and safe environment. * Demonstrate ESF Core Values & Code daily, from "Gratitude" to "Bring It" daily. * Model the ESF Virtues of Character (Gratitude, Respect, Trustworthiness, Effort, Kindness, Positivity, Resilience, Community) in camp daily. * Adhere to all company policies. * Communication: Maintain clear, concise, and engaging communication with campers, families, peers, and our leadership team. Reporting Relationships: * Reports directly to and takes direction from the Camp Aquatics Director, with additional accountability to the Site Director. Additional Responsibilities: * Must have the physical capability to see (near and far), climb, bend, swim, float, kneel, and carry individuals during rescue operations. * Push/pull, lift, and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus. Work outside, upright, and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day * Respond to emergencies, including running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and ascending stairs without undue exertion. You will work in a magnificent Olympic-sized pool. This is a part time position. ABOUT YOU You will have a strong background in swim instruction and lifeguard experience, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. In addition, you should be able to adapt to different teaching styles to accommodate diverse learning needs and demonstrate sound judgment in emergencies. WHAT YOU'LL DO Ability to adapt your teaching approach to match the experience and abilities of the participants. Organizes and directs activities of assigned students in order to provide a high level of quality instruction for all students. Ensures that all class students are registered and on the class roster prior to beginning class. Are on a first-name personalized basis in meaningful instruction for the duration of the session. Establishes positive public relations with parents/guardians of class students helping them recognize and understand swimming developments and achievements. Resolves simple public complaints in matters related to swimming instruction and refers other complaints to the supervisor. Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals using the facilities. Completes and submits records and documentation of completed lessons to the Aquatics supervisor and the American Red Cross office. Works with the Aquatics supervisor on an on-going basis to upgrade, improve and refine individual teaching skills related to teaching effective swimming lessons to various age groups and various skill levels. Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights. Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing or walking for various lengths of time. Ability to communicate effectively with Children and adults. Other Responsibilities: Ability to put an emphasis on water safety and drowning prevention as the basis of swimming and water recreation. Must have strong communication, time management, critical thinking, ability to plan & organize and customer service skills. Attend regularly scheduled departmental meetings for all areas necessary. Ensuring that there are lifeguards on duty during swim lessons. Ability to submit the required course documents according to Red Cross procedural guidelines within the specified time frame. Performs related duties as required. As the Aquatics Head Swim Team Coach, you must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You will help our Swim Team members improve their swimming in our state-of-the-art recreational and lap pools, both indoors and out. You will write and run Swim Team Group Workouts according to the season plan. You will train the Swim Team Coaches on their team. This position oversees the registering of new participants for the Team and maintains the cleanliness and order of our Aquatics Facilities.
