Overview: We seek highly skilled Security Fundamental Course - (Swim Tester/Lifeguard) Instructors to deliver specialized training in high-risk military courses. The role requires exceptional technical knowledge, military experience, and instructional expertise to prepare Navy personnel for tactical operations.
General Requirements:
Be a qualified instructor in accordance with the specific requirements identified in the following sections. Have 2 years of experience as an instructor delivering training.
Have knowledge of basic and advanced training techniques to include classroom management, Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs), and student motivation.
Have knowledge of computer technology application as it applies to instructional presentation.
Possess high personal standards of technical knowledge and professional competence in delivering training material.
Possess the ability to perform in a military environment.

Due to the rigorous and severe physical toll of high and moderate-risk training events, Instructors must be capable of performing all training evolutions to include all self-defense, tactical and dynamic maneuvers per the testing plan; including the ability to perform prolonged maneuvers effectively in the standing, kneeling and prone positions; ascend or descend ladders and go through narrow passageways; be free of any abnormal fear of heights and be able to quickly acclimate to extreme local environmental conditions (e.g., high heat, humidity).
Position Specific Requirements:
Conduct student pre-test administrative screening, coordinating with the NTTC Lackland administrative and medical staff. The Pre-screening Form (P1552/16) can be found in Appendix C of the Navy Swimming and Water Survival Instructor/Swim Tester's Manual (CNET P1552/16).
Administer the Navy Second Class Swimmer test in accordance with Chapter 12 of CNET P1552/16 to designated students. This testing shall include (but is not limited to):
Conduct all poolside safety checks to ensure that the pool and surrounding facilities are safe to conduct the test. Ensure all safety equipment is present and in satisfactory working condition for the administration of the swim test. At a minimum, the facility must have a telephone with posted emergency numbers, and a backup method of communication.
Perform lifeguard duties during swim testing.
Grade students in accordance with Chapter 13 of CNET P1552/16.
Completer Record of Swim Qualification (Appendix G of CNET P1552/16)
Coordinate with NTTC Lackland Student Administrative Staff to document post-test results of successful/unsuccessful completion of the Second-Class Swim Test in Fleet Training Management and Planning System (FLTMPS) and in the member's service record. Procedures to enter successful completion of the swim test into FLTMPS are provided in chapter 12 of the Navy Swim Manual (CNET P1552/16).
Interface with NTTC Lackland staff and/or USAF/Joint Base San Antonio Swimming Pool staff in coordinating/scheduling use of the swimming pool(s).
Assist the MA “A” Instructor staff in administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) instruction.
Assist in the delivery of MA “A” training in non-weapons modules after obtaining appropriate CUIT qualifications.
In addition to requirements listed, Swim Testers/Lifeguards/CPR instructors shall meet the additional following qualifications:
Possess Navy NEC 805A (Instructor) (or equivalency)
Possess one (or more) of the following qualifications:
Navy NEC 806A (9504) (Naval Aviation Water Survival Instructor); or
Navy NEC 808A (9510) (Navy Swimming and Water Survival Instructor); or
Completion of Navy Swim Tester Course (A-012-0015) (see note below)
NOTE: Per Navy Swimming and Water Survival Instructor's Manual (NETC P1552/16), Swim Tester Certification for Navy NEC 806A (Naval Aviation Water Survival Instructor) as well as graduates of the Navy Swim Test Course, is current for a maximum of three years or the end of a tour, whichever comes first. Consequently, any candidate who qualifies based on either of these qualifications must attend the Navy Swim Tester Course (A-012-0015) before reporting to duty. It shall be the contractor's responsibility to ensure the currency of this qualification. CENSECFOR will assist the contractor in obtaining quotas for the Navy Swim Tester Course (A-012-0015); however, any costs associated with obtaining this qualification shall be the responsibility of the contractor. Swim Instructor Job 433 miles from Mission
It is the responsibility of the Water Safety Team to ensure the safe operation of Splash Kingdom's rides and attractions. Lifeguard applicants must successfully complete the National Pool and Waterpark Lifeguard Training Program conducted by Splash Kingdom Waterpark (there is a fee for this class). Applicants must be able to swim 200 yards using the front crawl or breast stroke, be able to recover a 10 lb. brick from a depth of 10 feet and tread water for 2 minutes with hands out of the water.
