ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying the Y's commitment to DEI and the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the safe-in-six model (Prevent, Recognize, Activate EAP, Rescue, Care, Report).
Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The Piano Extension Program (PEP) has been providing piano lessons to students in the community of all ages and levels at a reasonable rate since 1996. Piano lessons at the PEP are held in the Paul Creative Arts Center and taught by a qualified roster of teachers. PEP teachers are competent at playing the piano and have a good understanding of the instrument. Being a good communicator with students and guardians is also an important aspect of the job.
Duties/Responsibilities
Communication with students and guardians: 10% of the duties of a PEP teacher is clear and prompt communication with students and guardians. This includes scheduling lesson times, coordinating make up lessons if needed, making sure the student understands what to practice at home, and letting them know of important dates such as recitals.
Instruction of materials: 50% of the lesson should be focusing on teaching the student materials through a lesson book or a particular piece of music. This includes note reading, dynamics, and articulation along with the history of the music and composer.
Technique: 20% should be allotted to teaching proper playing technique such as finger and hand placement, scales, and arpeggios.
Ear training and music theory: Theory and ear training is another essential part of learning piano and should take up 20% of each lesson. This includes hearing games and exercises, exploring tone quality, and discussing why music is composed a certain way.
Minimum Qualifications
This section of teachers must be current high schoolers 15 years and older who have studied piano for multiple years and are competent at the instrument.
There is no requirement for prior teaching experience, but they are expected to work closely with the director of the Piano Extension Program for pedagogical instruction.
Teachers are expected to communicate promptly and clearly with students and guardians.
They must know how to play piano and how the instrument works.
They must be competent at reading music and understand basic music theory.
Time management is important, such as starting lessons on time.
Flexible working with different personalities, disabilities, and individual learning styles.
Enthusiastic about instructing each student.

The CTS Instructor-I is a hands-on position that requires the candidate to effectively and consistently deliver the highest quality classroom instruction to a wide variety of students including developmental air traffic controllers and Certified Professional Controllers (CPC).
The successful candidate for this position must demonstrate strong technical skills with current ATC systems and procedures. This position may provide mentoring for students and Remote Pilot Operators (RPO) and may participate in curriculum design and development. The selected candidate must demonstrate the knowledge and skills applicable for obtaining classroom instruction certifications at FAA air traffic control facilities within the U.S. National Airspace System.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for ensuring that air traffic control specialists provide the flying public with a high level of safety and professionalism. A well-trained Air Traffic Control (ATC) workforce plays an essential role in fulfilling this responsibility. The FAA employs more than 14,000 air traffic controllers. They work in air traffic facilities of varying sizes, safely separating more than 50,000 aircraft in the National Airspace System (NAS) each day.
To provide such air traffic services, the FAA trains new air traffic control specialists and provides recurrent training to current air traffic control specialists. The FAA utilizes Contractor-provided instructional services at FAA ATC facilities throughout the U.S. and its Territories to ensure these training needs are met. The scope of the contractor-provided services includes all training and training program support to successfully train and prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers. PenBay must provide training and training related support services as required for all types and levels of ATC facilities.

Position Purpose
Instruct or coach teams and individual students in the fundamentals of sports. Demonstrate techniques and methods of participation. May evaluate athletes' strengths and weaknesses as possible recruits, or to improve the athlete's technique to prepare them for competition.
Job Responsibilities

PenBay is looking for an experienced Air Traffic Control Instructor-I to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team in Nashua, New Hampshire (ZBW BOSTON ARTCC), supporting air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The CTS Instructor-I is a hands-on position that requires the candidate to effectively and consistently deliver the highest quality classroom instruction to a wide variety of students including developmental air traffic controllers and Certified Professional Controllers (CPC).
The successful candidate for this position must demonstrate strong technical skills with current ATC systems and procedures. This position may provide mentoring for students and Remote Pilot Operators (RPO) and may participate in curriculum design and development. The selected candidate must demonstrate the knowledge and skills applicable for obtaining classroom instruction certifications at FAA air traffic control facilities within the U.S. National Airspace System.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for ensuring that air traffic control specialists provide the flying public with a high level of safety and professionalism. A well-trained Air Traffic Control (ATC) workforce plays an essential role in fulfilling this responsibility. The FAA employs more than 14,000 air traffic controllers. They work in air traffic facilities of varying sizes, safely separating more than 50,000 aircraft in the National Airspace System (NAS) each day.
To provide such air traffic services, the FAA trains new air traffic control specialists and provides recurrent training to current air traffic control specialists. The FAA utilizes Contractor-provided instructional services at FAA ATC facilities throughout the U.S. and its Territories to ensure these training needs are met. The scope of the contractor-provided services includes all training and training program support to successfully train and prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers. PenBay must provide training and training related support services as required for all types and levels of ATC facilities.
ATTN FERS RETIREES: Earnings received as an ATC Instructor, ATC Training Instructional Supervisor, or Contractor Site Supervisor working on this program are EXEMPT from the Supplemental Annuity earnings limits for FERS retirees between the ages of 56 and 62.

Required Qualifications:
US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
The CTS Instructor candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of FAA CPC experience controlling live traffic, or recent experience as a contract Instructor at an FAA facility. Experience must have been at the same type and same [or greater] level of ATC facility as the Nashua, New Hampshire (ZBW BOSTON ARTCC)
Desired Skills and Experience:
Direct experience as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC) at the Nashua New Hampshire-ZBW is preferred but not required
Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with FAA personnel at all levels to ensure the delivery of training services meet the needs of the local facility, as well as the FAA's overall Air Traffic Control mission is highly desired
Experience demonstrating excellent teaching and/or platform skills, classroom management techniques, and a student-focused drive for continuous improvement
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) certification required with the ability to obtain and maintain Instructor-I Certification
