Job Summary
Sharks & Minnows Swim School seeks experienced swim instructors for group and private swim lessons, for babies 6 months old to adults, including survival and learning to swim skills. Due to the high profile of the school, this individual must be a self-starter who displays a professional and friendly demeanor. While you need not have extensive experience, there are some things that are required.
Requirements of the Swim Instructor:
18 yrs +
Reliable transportation
People/Communication Skills - Instructors must be comfortable speaking in front of and interacting with children and parents.
We look for instructors with outgoing, fun personalities.
Experience w/ Children - Instructors work with infants, toddlers, and children every day!
Experience in competitive swimming, coaching, teaching, babysitting, tutoring, mentoring, and lifeguards.
Great attitude - Instructors must have a willingness and ability to follow set lesson plans and teaching styles, and train to teach the Sharks & Minnows way.
Availability- Must be able to teach in the afternoon and evenings Mon, or Tue & Thur or Wed & Fri 3pm-8pm or Sat 9am - 2pm . Please note: Instructor shifts would be at one pool location NOT driving from pool to pool.

You need to be a “swimmer”. Ideally, you have an understanding of all four strokes and an overall appreciation for the water

Job Description
The UPRT Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), including spin training, in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline as outlined in the Skyborne Airline Academy Training Manual. This position involves both ground and in-aircraft instruction, with a primary focus on safety, regulatory compliance, student engagement, and performance tracking.
The role ensures the safe and effective execution of flight training duties while maintaining full regulatory compliance with company and national authority standards. The instructor will also support training record documentation, lesson preparation, and continuous instructional development.
Flight Operations and Safety
Maintain operational and safety oversight of aircraft, passengers, and cargo from engine start through shutdown.
Conduct pre-flight planning, weather assessments, and familiarization with regulations, destinations, alternates, and escape routes.
Execute safe command of aircraft and enforce safety protocols in all phases of flight.
Evaluate and mitigate risks, including refusal of boarding to individuals posing safety threats (e.g., under influence of drugs or alcohol).
Ensure adherence to all checklists, operating procedures, and airworthiness standards.
Verify pre-flight inspections, fuel/oil sufficiency, and proper implementation of manufacturer-approved procedures.
Monitor weather and operational conditions throughout flight.
Report equipment unserviceability, flight irregularities, or emergency deviations in compliance with aviation authority regulations.
Instructional Delivery and Student Development
Prepare and deliver ground and flight instruction in UPRT and spin recovery, as assigned to both U.S. (CFI candidates) and UK (integrated course) students.
Provide pre-flight and post-flight briefings to trainees.
Maintain currency in UPRT techniques, company procedures, and regulatory guidance.
Conduct accurate student evaluations, monitor progress, and recommend remedial action where needed.
Ensure lesson-specific preparation, clear communication of objectives, and student comprehension.
Deliver instruction in accordance with the published training schedule and maintain on-time performance.
Complete all required training documentation, student records, and administrative reporting promptly.
Compliance and Professional Conduct
Maintain current instructor qualifications, completing standardization and recurrent training as scheduled.
Enforce trainee compliance with safety procedures and flight rules.
Ensure proper briefing on emergency procedures and use of safety equipment, including parachutes when applicable.
Report any inadequacies in aircraft or facilities to management.
Ensure proper documentation and validity of flight plans and related materials.
Collaborate with the CFI, Safety Manager, and Operations Control in all matters of safety, compliance, and training improvement.
Qualifications
FAA or EASA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII), or equivalent UPRT qualification.
Demonstrated experience delivering UPRT and spin training in a high-performance, single-engine aircraft.
Strong understanding of applicable aviation regulations (FAA/EASA), flight safety principles, and instructional methodology.
Excellent communication, evaluation, and organizational skills.
Ability to assess student performance objectively and deliver constructive feedback.
Commitment to continuous improvement, personal development, and safety culture.
Previous instructional experience in a structured flight training environment preferred.
Previous Military Experience and Aerobatic highly preferred
Physical Requirements
Must meet the medical standards for flight instructors as required by governing aviation authority.
Ability to operate aircraft controls and perform in-air instructional maneuvers.
You must be able to lift and transport training materials and equipment as required.

How will you contribute to the team?
Responsible for hands-on and classroom instruction in transportation construction trades with a specialization in heavy equipment operation (CAT simulator and field-based)
Lead instruction in general transportation construction practices, emphasizing heavy equipment operation and jobsite safety.
Develop CAT simulator curriculum, establish performance metrics, and track trainee hours across seven types of heavy equipment.
Integrate simulator-based training with classroom instruction to reinforce practical skills and readiness. Guide daily classroom instruction, introduce guest speakers, manage classroom engagement, and provide expert input and coaching.
Enforce safety protocols in compliance with OSHA regulations, project standards, and institutional policies.
Monitor and document trainee progress; offer one-on-one coaching and intervention strategies to support certification and employment goals.
Deliver targeted mentorship and personal development support for at-risk trainees to improve outcomes and program retention.
Coordinate with staff and employers to support job placements, hiring events, and industry partnerships that promote trainee employment.
What will you contribute?
High school diploma (or equivalent) plus eight years related experience OR an Associates Degree in a related technical field plus six years related experience is required.
Proven ability to deliver technical training and mentor learners in heavy equipment operation.
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, transportation construction trades, and workforce development practices.
Must retain and maintain valid class A driver's license.
Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Excellent communication, coaching, and classroom management skills, with the ability to support diverse and at-risk populations.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, plus thorough understanding of discipline
supported.

Job Responsibilities
Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area using constant scanning techniques to achieve a 10x10 reaction time and dealing with redirection and warnings in a timely manner. Remain alert and attentive to all swimmers while on guard.
Know and review all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with the YMCA of Central Florida policies and procedures.
Know, understand and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
Greet and develop effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
Assist in the retention of existing members and engagement of new members by informing them of the Family Center aquatic programs, including lap swimming, swim lessons, swim team and group exercise classes.
Ensure cleanliness of pool decks and aquatic areas. Check the pool for hazardous conditions.
Attend all staff meetings, monthly in-services and trainings as required.

Job Responsibilities specific to Swim Instructors:
Provides swimming and water safety instruction to students of all ages and abilities
