Must possess the physical strength, endurance, and agility necessary to perform First Aid, CPR, AED, and other related lifesaving activities. Ability to actively perform safety duties; the safeguarding of individuals, public and property. Ability to effectively interact with City staff, volunteers and the public; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instruction utilizing the English language; Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Mandarin is highly desirable. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES Education equivalent to high school diploma, GED, or must be currently enrolled in high school. Must be at least 17 years of age at time of submitting application. LICENSES & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Must possess the following current and valid American Red Cross certificates - all certificates must be attached to the employment application at time of filing: CPR for the Professional Rescuer Community First Aid AED Lifeguarding Certificate Water Safety Instructor Certificate PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS Incumbents are required to meet the required moderate physical exertion associated with the ability to dive, lift, carry, push, pull, and climb.
