Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds in weight. Uniforms:Instructors are required to wear SafeSplash uniforms which include logoed female one piece suits and male board shorts. The Community Services Department is hiring part-time/seasonal Water Safety Instructors for the Summer. Water Safety Instructors are responsible for teaching swim lessons to students of all ages and abilities, assisting in emergency procedures and maintaining pool health standards and general pool appearance. Applicants must be able to work both independently and as part of an overall staff team. This position requires the ability to interact courteously and appropriately with the public in a variety of situations. Water Safety Instructors may be required to work special events, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and split shifts. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS The employee is constantly exposed to wetness and moisture. Adaptive Swim Instructor Under the supervision of the Adaptive Programs Manager, the Adaptive Swim Instructor provides inclusive, person-centered instruction to participants with disabilities across ages and ability levels. This role adapts teaching methods, uses supports/equipment as needed, and partners closely with caregivers and the Adaptive Program Manager to set goals, track progress, and promote confidence and water safety. We welcome candidates with experience in disability support, therapeutic recreation, special education, or related fields, and we provide training and coaching. This position requires good leadership, a professional appearance and attitude, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic. The essential skills are the ability to work well with people, teach, motivate, instill trust, and to ensure a positive working environment.
