Swim Instructors provide planning and instruction for aquatic programs, lessons and camps within the guidelines of the City of Piedmont's comprehensive aquatics program. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Head Varsity Swim & Dive Coach, for the season beginning January 15, 2026, and ending around May 15, 2026. This position will be responsible for running the Swim & Dive Program at Presentation, which consists of the varsity and junior varsity teams.
Duties and Specific Responsibilities
Schedule contests, scrimmages, and practices for the program
Teach and enhance fundamental skills and techniques, as well as advanced techniques in the sport.
Attend all team practices and games (Mon-Fri afternoons, some Saturday commitments)
Coordinate management of on-site events for all levels with the Athletic Department
Attend Athletic meetings as required, including Coach's meetings and season parent meetings
Participate in all regional and sectional playoffs to which the team is entitled
Report all game results to Athletic Department
Responsible for maintaining appropriate behavior on the part of athletes at practices, games, and in transit to and from events
Abide by all WCAL and CIF-CCS rules and regulations and attend meetings as required
Prioritize an environment of safety for our student-athletes and provide first aid when required
Manage and maintain program equipment
Coordinate season-end awards program
Attend school functions related to the promotion of Athletic programs (ie: Open House)

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Swim Instructor/Lifeguard, multi-tasks on an ongoing basis but not limited to include: plan, organize, lead and/or assist, lifeguard and supervise various diversified and adaptive recreational activities for a variety of disabled individuals and customer groups of all ages. WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, kneeling, stretching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate pool equipment and tools. The position requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to monitor and communicate appropriate pool activity. The need to lift, drag and push, pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds is also required. Temporary/Seasonal Position
March 2026 through First weekend of August 2026
Under direct supervision, employees in this "at-will" classification perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the area of recreation. This seasonal/temporary position for the City of Galt will oversee the operations of a recreational swim team program including, but not limited to scheduling, training, and evaluating swim team practices and competitive meets.
The following duties are typical for this position. The position may also be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below.
* Is responsible for the efficient and effective supervision of the pool and facility during the respective workout period and swim meets.
* Works with the Pool Manager and the Recreation Supervisor to plan the season including practice times, swim meets, and social activities.
