Your Typical Responsibilities: Reports directly to and supports the Aquatics Manager and/or Business Owner(s). Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with British Swim School training and program standards, maintaining certifications throughout employment. Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings (3pm-7pm), weekends (8am- 1pm), and holidays as required by business needs. Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and be in the water for the duration of the shift. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion. Enthusiastic personality. Comfortable in and around the water. Strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught and developed! Must maintain certifications throughout the length of employment. City of Phoenix pools offer a variety of swimming lessons, programs and activities for every age and ability level. Public pools are open six days a week and are closed on Fridays starting Memorial Day Weekend. The schedule allows pools to be opened through Labor Day, September 7, 2026. Make a splash and earn some cash. We are recruiting for the 2026 part time summer Aquatics positions of Lifeguard, Shallow Water lifeguard and Swim Lesson Instructor. Certification classes are required for Lifeguard, Shallow Water lifeguard and Swim Lesson Instructor positions. Please see information below in the Certification section for more details on this requirement. This recruitment will be used to fill temporary part-time positions at City of Phoenix public pools. SALARY Shallow Water Lifeguard $16.88 per hour Lifeguard $17.72 per hour Swim Lesson Instructor $19.54 per hour Seasonal part-time employees will work up to 40 hours during the summer and are not eligible for the full package of benefits. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Lifeguards: * Must be 15 years old to receive your lifeguard certification.     The Kids Instructor provides best-in-class, educational/fitness-minded programming for our children. They organize, instruct and implement safe, fun and entertaining activities and games for children between the ages of three months to 11 years in the Kids Academy. Kids Instructors may also host parties and other events. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Greets, acknowledges, and interacts with members and guests in a friendly and professional manner * Fosters children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development by instructing organized activities in accordance with the Kids Academy Schedule * Prepares and sets up for class and transfers kids to and from programming * Maintains records of children's attendance, development, and incidents. * Monitors and interacts with children to maintain a safe and healthy environment with respect to the toys, sports equipment, other children, and surroundings * Utilizes positive behavior management techniques and communicates clearly with parents and team members * Promotes all Junior programming to increase participation in all Kids & Aquatics programming * Maintains the Kids Academy and other program areas by following the cleaning checklist and performing assigned tasks.
