JOB SUMMARY

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be comfortable in the water with the ability to swim 200 yards using either a breaststroke or freestyle without stopping, tread water for two minutes without the use of arms and hands and perform a feet first surface drive to retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of a 12 ft. pool.
Excellent eyesight including close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus for extended periods of time.
Strong voice, phone, and listening skill with the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds (i.e. machinery or other alarms, equipment malfunction, phone or other communication device, etc.) Moderate exposure to noise from patrons, staff or equipment operation in adjacent areas.

Every shift has an on-staff cleaner to sanitize high touch areas in our lobby and pool areas
Our pools are disinfected with chlorine to provide the safest swimming environment
The CDC states that proper operation, maintenance and disinfection of the water with chlorine should remove or inactivate the virus
Our state-of-the-art ventilation system allows fresh air to continuously circulate into our building, further minimizing the spread of any airborne virus
Industry experts note that indoor pools are far superior at minimizing virus transmission than most indoor spaces

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Teach Aquatic Safety in and around water
* Assess swimmers existing aquatic capabilities and plan swim lessons to teach to the level best suited for their unique swimming abilities and progressive development
* Identify inefficient swimming techniques and offer modifications to correct
* Monitor students to prevent accidents or potential injuries
* Recognize and respond swiftly and efficiently to all aquatic emergencies
* Complete necessary aquatic daily reports and/or incident forms

What you'll do:
Provide a high-level of customer service to members, program participants and guests at all times
Supervise and guard the pool and aquatic facility and ensure participants adhere to all YMCA aquatic guidelines and procedures.
Examine injured persons and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary, using training and medical supplies and equipment.
Perform appropriate water rescues, when necessary, using rescue techniques and equipment.
Contact emergency medical personal in case of serious injury.
Actively participate in obtaining further water safety certifications.

Physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment to rescue a 200 lb. person and meet other physical requirements required for job certification.
