Swim Instructor Requirements: Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly. Build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; help them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourage parent involvement and identify potential volunteers. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs. Maintain records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.). Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary. Organize and puts away needed class equipment. Report damaged equipment. Train and supervise class aides as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: At least 16 years of age. Must be able to complete Y provided CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification. Must be able to complete YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium work. The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. Frequently subject to environmental conditions- heat and humidity both inside and outside. May occur mostly outside. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, swimming, and crouching throughout the work shift. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. Use hands and fingers for fine motor skills frequently. Walking on a variety of uneven surfaces and climbing stairs frequently. Have visual acuity to determine safety and security of participants in the program as well as the facility. Receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word. Read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents. Instructor of Applied Environmental Statistics The Department of Sustainable Resources Management at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure-track position as Instructor of Applied Environmental Statistics. This is a teaching intensive position with five to seven courses expected to be taught each academic year (three to four courses per semester). The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) teach courses in applied statistics ranging from large enrollment introductory statistics for undergraduates to more specialized topics for graduate students, including (possibly) biometrics, experimental design and analysis of variance, multivariate methods, nonparametric and categorical data analysis, regression analysis, and sampling; and (2) provide statistical consulting to undergraduate and graduate students and faculty on their research activities.
