Communicate with the Aquatics Directors regarding the progress of the class and its participants, as well as any concerns/problems associated with the Lifeguard course. Assist participants in applying for open positions at the conclusion of the course. Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children which includes: Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children. Attend required abuse risk management training. Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. SKILLS AND TRAINING Current YMCA Lifeguarding, Red Cross Lifeguard Training, or Boy Scouts of America Lifeguarding required. Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid required. Current Lifeguard Instructor certification required. Previous facilitation or instruction in these types of classes preferred. Must be knowledgeable about all of the pool rules and regulations as stated in the Lifeguard Manual. Must be at least 17 years old. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ongoing evaluation of physical demands of the position will happen monthly. Must be able to swim 300 yards (using front crawl and breast stroke), tread water for 2 minutes, demonstrate rescue skills, retrieve the brick from the bottom of the deep pool. Employment Type:Part time Shift:Description:The purpose of this position is to provide instruction for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides teaching and guidance to students taking ACLS and/or PALS courses. Ensures classroom and supplies are prepared for class. Follows teaching criteria outlined by the American Heart Association (AHA). Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Certified ACLS and or PALS provider. Current ACLS or PALS Instructor certifications or the ability to obtain with in 3 months of hire. Ability to teach at a minimum of 1 class per month. Ability to attend an annual, mandatory skills training/maintenance and sign-off session. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Previous teaching/training experience preferred.
