The Integrated Airborne Solutions (IAS) Division of the Airborne Systems Business Area of Leidos currently has an opening for a Lakota LUH-72A Synthetic Flight Training Simulator (SFTS) Instructor Operator
supporting the Army National Guard (ANG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program in Bridgeport, WV located at the Fixed-Wing Army Aviation Training Site (FWAATS). Leidos is the prime contractor providing flight training, simulation training, classroom instruction and schoolhouse support activities including the One Army School System (OASS) integration, and Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) maintenance for platforms and simulation devices in use or anticipated to be in use by the Army National Guard.

Leidos is hiring a Simulator Instructor Operator in support of AATS training mission and regionally supported units in simulation devices including the LUH-72A Synthetic Flight Training System (SFTS). The Simulator Instructor Operator will provide training of approved POIs, ATM simulation training requirements for aviators assigned to regionally supported units, familiarization training, and tours approved through ARNG. The successful candidate that is selected for this position may have the opportunity to cross-train at the FWAATS schoolhouse in a C-12/King Air 200 aircraft through the aircraft qualification course (AQC) provided by the FWAATS cadre. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience supporting the ATSOS program.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
* Provide simulated flight training to AATS students and regional simulation users with special emphasis on proper use of all aircraft systems, emergency procedure training, and instrument flight procedures.
* Develop and maintain mission training scenarios for regional users.
* Provide instruction and evaluation to student pilots IAW Training Support Packages for AATS approved courses of instruction.
* Provide Aircrew Coordination Training-Enhanced (ACT-E) Training IAW with approved course Training Support Package.
* Maintain training records on formal course students and in ATP records as required for unit, readiness level (RL) progression trainees.
* Conduct academic platform instruction for the Instructor Operator course, Instrument Flight Examiner Prep course, Instrument Flight Examiner Distributive Learning course, Instrument Flight Examiner R1 course, Instrument Refresher course; and AATS courses IAW approved POI in Aviation Qualification Course, Instructor Pilot Course, and Maintenance Test Pilot Course.
* Facilitate pre-mission planning and after-action reviews for all simulation periods conducted.
* Complete all aircrew training program (ATP) requirements IAW DCMA INST 8210-1D, AR 95-1, and the applicable dATM. Contract pilot shall participate in No-notice evaluation program.
* Develop update and publish schedules via an electronic database.
* Conduct annual simulation scheduling conference.
* Track schedule changes and prepare monthly reports for flight simulators and hardware maintenance trainers supporting the AATS.
* Coordinate with War Fighter Focus Contract (WFFC)/Army TADSS Maintenance Plan (ATMP) simulator maintenance contractor daily to track simulator maintenance status and service requests.
* Coordinate with unit course managers to block formal course simulation time.
* Coordinate with regional users, National Guard Bureau, PEO-STRI representatives to ensure proper utilization of allocated hours/devices IAW FR 350-1 and AR 95-1 and provide monthly utilization reports.
* Verify and correct as required the WFFC/ATMP contractors monthly contractor device performance reports and forward them to the COTR.
* Update flight schedule in accordance with appropriate maintenance schedule.
* Maintain and review semi-annually a publication library that includes historical information and facilities reports for all simulators.
* Act as a RFMSS Fire Desk Operator in the Army range and facility scheduling system (RF-MSS). Using RFMSS to schedule every simulator training period. Each simulator period shall be scheduled in RFMSS within 12 hours of receipt. Each simulator training day shall be closed out within 24 hours.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
* High School Diploma with 8 years' of applicable experience or Bachelors' Degree with 4 years' of experience.
* Simulator Instructor Operators shall be qualified as an Instructor Pilot in the LUH-72A simulator and an Instrument Flight Examiner, or have documented three years of experience as an Aviation Simulator I/O in the LUH-72A. I/O qualifications shall be made available to the COR upon request. I/Os shall have prior experience training or operating with Army Aviation (or Military Equivalent).
* USAACE / AATS qualified Instructor Pilot in the LUH-72A for which simulation duties will be performed or have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an I/O in assigned device.
* Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualified; or successfully graduate from a AATS provided ABIC course within 12 months of contractor employee start date.
* Must meet instructor qualification requirements as defined by the Aviation proponent and IAW TR 350-10, TR 350-70.
* Qualified as a unit trainer, an instructor pilot or a maintenance test flight examiner with demonstrated simulator operations experience in the LUH-72A Lakota or Airbus H145 equivalent aircraft.
* USAACE qualified Instrument Flight Examiner.
* Satisfactorily complete unit aircrew training program within 3 months of starting work if not an instructor pilot IAW AR95-1, 4-11e(2) and FR350-1.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Serve as an Instructor/Driving Instructor for Security/Counterterrorism Courses as a subject matter expert in Vehicle Dynamics, Motorcade Operations, Counter IED, Surveillance Detection and other related areas.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
Reviewing established training objectives, lesson plans, training materials, and instructional methods prior to the beginning of assigned courses.
Researching and reviewing current intelligence related to security missions and introduces applicable information into driver training courses.
Ensuring that training objectives have been met by analyzing trainees, feedback from instructors, and through personal observations.
Identifying the need for revision to course content and materials or instructional methods as necessary to improve the driver training curriculum effectiveness and quality.
Assisting instructors in other security related subjects including terrorist operations, surveillance detection, attack recognition, and motorcade operations.
Aiding Lead Instructor during practical exercises as necessary.
Keeping abreast of current security techniques, methods, and procedures in the security/counterterrorist driving, vehicle dynamics, and motorcade operations areas.
Instructing/Teaching in a classroom environment with a wide range of students.
Providing instruction on the parts and functions of vehicles to include Fully Armored SUV's.
Gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations and calm students who are in distress.
Reporting all accidents/incidents to the Lead Instructor.
May assist in vehicle recovery when requested.

**WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)**
+ High School Diploma with 8 years' of applicable experience or Bachelors' Degree with 4 years' of experience.
+ Simulator Instructor Operators shall be qualified as an Instructor Pilot in the LUH-72A simulator and an Instrument Flight Examiner, or have documented three years of experience as an Aviation Simulator I/O in the LUH-72A. I/O qualifications shall be made available to the COR upon request. I/Os shall have prior experience training or operating with Army Aviation (or Military Equivalent).
+ USAACE / AATS qualified Instructor Pilot in the LUH-72A for which simulation duties will be performed or have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an I/O in assigned device.

a. Be retired from the Army in the grades of E-6 thru E-9, W-1 thru W-5, and O-3 thru O-6 . Personnel retired under Title 10, United States Code (USC), section 1223 (Reserve Service), are eligible for employment in JROTC.
(1) Active Duty.
(2) Active Guard Reserve (AGR).
(3) National Guard (NG).
(4) Army Reserve (AR).
(5) Wounded Warrior (Soldiers who have sustained injuries from combat and are registered by the Department of Defense in the Wounded Warrior Program).
b. Not be retired for more than three years (for initial employment) and must receive retirement pay.
c. Have been discharged under honorable conditions from all previous enlistments and prior service, if any, before employment. Active Army personnel with retirement orders are eligible but cannot be cost-shared with the school until officially retired from military service.
d. Have a military and civil record reflecting, through evaluation reports and public records, a high degree of efficiency and effectiveness, and conduct above reproach. Records must reflect an overall manner of performance that compares favorably with contemporaries on active duty.
e Have no record of conviction by court-martial, or given the option to retire in lieu of a court- martial, no record of time lost-to-be-made-good under Title 10, USC, Section 972 and no record of civil convictions except for minor traffic offenses. Exceptions may be granted by CG, USACC, using AR 601-210 as a guide.
f. Be a citizen of the United States of America, without ties that would reasonably influence the instructor to act in favor of a foreign country or a person bound to a country having basic or critical interests opposed to those of the United States.
g. Meet retention medical fitness standards as prescribed in Appendix P. Personnel not meeting these standards, such as those retired for medical reasons (Title 10, USC, Section 1201) are not eligible.
h. Possess a minimum of '1' in the 'S' factor of the physical profile and have no record of or demonstrate emotional instability as determined by observation, official report, or screening of health records.
i. Have no speech impediment that would detract substantially from the ability of the JROTC
instructor to present instruction.
j. Be of good moral character and have the mental ability, positive attitude, physical appearance and condition, and neatness required for favorable representation of JROTC and the Army in the school and civilian community.
k. Have general knowledge of course subject matter and demonstrated instructional ability. Award of an instructor MOS designator is not sufficient to automatically qualify.
l. Demonstrate the professional ability to lead, motivate, and influence young men and women to learn and develop leadership, self-reliance and discipline, responsiveness to constituted authority, and attributes of good citizenship and patriotism.
m. Have no personal habits or character traits that are questionable from a security, stability, or social standpoint such as, but not limited to, financial irresponsibility, excessive drinking or gambling, drug use, or emotional instability.
n. Have writing and verbal skills appropriate for the academic environment.
Senior Instructor (SAI) and Instructor (AI) Functions and
Responsibilities.
(1) Manage and conduct the JROTC unit according to school rules, regulations, and policies.
(2) The SAI will advise school authorities on policy and regulation changes within
CCR 145-2.
(3) Maintain good relations with school authorities, faculty, and the student body.
(4) Conduct a public affairs effort in the local area middle and elementary schools,
among school and community officials, civic groups, parent-teacher groups and other individuals or groups, designed to further the understanding of JROTC, the school and the Army.
(5) Enroll students in JROTC and support school officials while executing the curriculum and the integrated extra-curricular activities.
(6) Prepare weekly training schedules.
(7) Maintain contact with parents of all Cadets experiencing academic or behavioral problems.
(8) Ensure JROTC unit areas are neat and orderly; current chain of command photos, Cadet creed, core abilities and mission statement are present; and all sensitive items are secured.
(9) Ensure instructors share teaching responsibilities. No instructor is exempt from teaching a fair-share of the LET POI. Instructors should teach by expertise and preference in subject areas, rather than strictly by LET levels. All instructors (SAI/AIs) are responsible for teaching the JROTC curriculum.
(10) Maintain a current copy of DA Form 3126 and/or DA Form 3126-1, a completed service-learning checklist/rubric, a current copy of a bond/insurance certificate, and required JUMS reports.
(11) Maintain accountability of all equipment, IAW AR 710-2, including items requiring formal accountability (i.e., air rifles), informal accountability (i.e., clothing) and durable items costing $5,000 or less (i.e., automation, computers, audiovisual), but still requiring property accountability. Failure to properly account for government property could result in pecuniary liability or adverse action. If negligence is probable, the instructor must initiate a DD Form 200, Financial Liability Investigation of Property Loss (FLIPL). Refer to AR 735-5 for instructions.
(12) Meet and adhere to the standards defined in Cadet Command Regulation 145-2, JROTC Program

Working Conditions:
Possess sufficient medical, physical, and mental fitness; be willing to perform, participate in, and supervise activities of JROTC. Activities include, but are not limited to:
(1) Platform and student-centered instruction.
(2) JROTC Cadet Safety and Civilian Marksmanship Program.
(3) Conduct of drill and ceremonies.
(4) Leadership training.
(5) Water activities.
(6) Climbing (stairs and ladder).
(7) Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
(8) Physical training.
(9) JCLC up to two weeks.
(10) Training and events after normal classroom hours and over weekends.
