In addition, it offers capacity on both a proportional and excess of loss basis for various types of marine risks, such as tugs and barges, offshore supply vessels, fishing vessels, ferries, mega yachts and recreational marine, ship repairer's legal liability, marine operator's legal liability, marine general liability, stevedore's legal liability, and project cargo. The company was formerly known as North American Reinsurance Corporation and changed its name to Swiss Reinsurance America Corporation in May, 1995. The company was founded in 1940 and is based in Armonk, New York. Swiss Reinsurance America operates as a subsidiary of Swiss Re America Holding Corporation.
