- Must be able to back in and pull out trailers from docks and buildings using side mirrors.
- Knowledge of the Yard Tractor instruments and controls: tractor brakes pressurize and release, trailer brakes pressurize and release, hydraulic 5th-wheel lift, 5th-wheel locking pin engage and release, transmission selector.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing at all levels within the organization
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language.

Job Overview
The Switcher I is responsible for the transport of full and empty trailers between the docks and the designated drop parking locations in the "Trailer Yard" to support the inbound unloading and the outbound loading warehouse operations in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner. This position will perform inspections of the trailers for any discovered issues of mechanical maintenance needs before moving, tagging out any trailers requiring attention, and communicating any discovered issues to warehouse management and, or fleet maintenance. This position may also occasionally be required to operate a forklift and, or other PIT equipment within the warehouse.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Transport full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking spaces
* Inspect trailers before transporting to identify issues of mechanical maintenance needs and, or potential safety hazards
* Maintain organization of the trailer yard to ensure the efficient and safe transport of trailers
* Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area and warehouse
* Perform other tasks including pallet building as determined and requested by management
