As the Senior Internal Auditor, you will help to build and strengthen our Internal Audit function as Symbotic continues to scale. In this role, you will play a critical part in developing and executing our SOX compliance program while also performing operational audits that drive process efficiency and control improvements across the business. You will ensure effective internal controls and deliver insights that add value to the organization. This is a hands-on position in a fast-growing, dynamic environment and the ability to make a meaningful impact. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Internal Audit.
What we do
The Internal Audit team is a part of the Symbotic Finance team. They bring a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of Symbotics risk management, internal controls, and governance processes supporting such controls.
What you'll do
Plan and execute SOX 404 testing across key business cycles, including, conducting walkthroughs and assessing control design, and testing operating effectiveness.
Conduct operational audits of business processes to assess efficiency and control effectiveness. Perform process walkthroughs and create documentation such as flowcharts and Risk & Control Matrices (RCMs) to validate control design and identify risks, process gaps, bottlenecks, and test operating effectiveness.
Perform root cause analysis for control deficiencies for SOX and operational audits and provide actionable recommendations to management, supporting remediation efforts to strengthen control effectiveness.
Collaborate across Finance and Operational teams, building strong relationships and promoting the Internal Audit function through high-quality work and effective communication.
Work independently and creatively, devising solutions based on limited information and supporting issue resolution.
What Youll Need
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA certification required.
Minimum 5 years of internal audit or external audit experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm or publicly traded company.
Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and key accounting standards, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, with practical experience assessing SOX compliance and internal controls.
Effective project management, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience collaborating with management and key stakeholders, with the ability to build strong professional relationships across business units and the audit team.
Proficiency with analytical and automation tools (e.g., Tableau and Power BI) and familiarity with AI-driven audit and analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to enhance testing, documentation, and process efficiency.
Experience with GRC platforms, with a strong preference for Workiva.
Familiar with ERP data flows and IT control concepts, enabling effective risk assessment across operational and SOX audits.
Hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days per week based in Wilmington, MA office)

About the Opportunities
Symbotic's Machine Learning team is an accomplished group of engineers who are working on sophisticated algorithms in areas such as routing, perception, and computer vision.
Routing interns will develop algorithms to boost efficiency in a multi-agent system while ensuring scalable software deployment and adherence to production standards.
Perception and Computer Vision interns will evaluate and propose new projects for replacing legacy tools with vision-based algorithms. What you'll do
Research and experiment with traditional computer vision methods and deep learning methods for object detection, classification, segmentation, pose estimation, anomaly detection on images or videos.

Preferred Skills and Experiences:
Proven experience in reverse engineering, software analysis, and vulnerability assessment
Strong understanding of operating systems, networking protocols, and hardware architectures
Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, Python, or Assembly
Experience in low-level programming for Unix, Linux, or Windows environments
Experience with reverse engineering tools like IDA Pro, Ghidra, and Radare2
Experience with embedded systems and firmware analysis.
Knowledge of cryptographic principles and security protocols.
Relevant certifications such as GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM), OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) or Offensive Security Certified Expert (OSCE)

About the Opportunities
Symbotic's Software Engineering function is a diverse community of skilled engineers who are building innovative technology across the stack. Intern opportunities in our Software function include:
Front-end engineers develop and enhance desktop, mobile, and web applications, optimizing performance and usability for end-users.
Back-end engineers develop high quality code and packages following software engineering best practices in areas such as tasking, cognitive tools, fleet orchestration, case handling, and storage and retrieval.
Embedded engineers design, implement, and validate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test frameworks to ensure reliability and robustness of embedded systems.
Test Automation engineers triage complex onsite issues and build automated pipelines to validate new products and packaging at scale.
What you'll do
Play a hands-on role as part of an engineering team that works to design, develop, review and test new functionalities.
Collaborate with others on an agile/scrum team to build features based on new business requirements.
Evolve the current software architecture toward microservices using .NET Core, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ and Redis.
Contribute to a distributed architecture built on .NET using multi-threaded and multi-processor concepts.
Create visualizations to extract understanding of current state from logs.
Develop high quality code and packages following software engineering best practices.
Participate in customer facing calls, visits and workshops to educate and support customers on the integration requirements between Symbotic and customer systems.
Work with our customer's technical resources to test Symbotic integrations with their systems.
What you'll need
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
Strong object-oriented programming skills in C#, Python and C++.
Experience with Linux and its commands.
Experience with source control (git), software testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
Enjoys learning new technologies, skills, and techniques as well as teaching them to others.
Experience with Vitis and Vivaldo is a plus.
Containerized development (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.) is a plus.
Experience with cross platform .NET core development is a plus.
Experience with MS SQL and the SQL language is a plus.

Up to 10% of travel may be . Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
