The primary responsibilities of this role, Field Research Scientist, are to:
+ Ensure safe and efficient operation of the research program with respect to budgetary guidelines and expectations. Support the site ESH program as it applies to North American Field Testing and Operations
+ Selection, preparation and maintenance of multiple field-testing sites. Requires safe driving including frequent trailer use hauling loads in excess of 10,000 lbs; pre-trip inspections and use of logbooks
+ Plays a vital role is trial preparation including seed processing, packaging, shipping, protocol review, trial placement and mapping/field design;
+ Maintain field trial sites as weed, insect and disease free; Confident ability in identifying key weeds, insect and disease problems is critical, as is timely and accurate implementation of control measures
+ With the use of handheld electronic equipment and Monsanto proprietary software, collect notes on various agronomic traits (e.g. emergence uniformity, flowering date, lodging, height, maturity, shattering resistance) in a timely manner throughout the growing season
+ Harvest plots and collect samples for quality and statistical analysis; ensure harvest data is evaluated and relinquished in accordance with crop advancement deadlines to aid in product advancement decisions
+ Develop, maintain and implement the use of controlled SOP documents, QMS procedures and investigative protocols
+ Comply with all regulatory compliance guidelines for Confined Release and Stewarded Trial material;
+ Collaborate with other Agronomic Research Specialists, Site Leads, and Principal Investigators is expected in order to facilitate efficient trial planning and placement, sharing of ideas and techniques and quick response to issues that may arise (e.g. weather or pests affecting trials);
+ Works closely with Plant Breeders, Principal Investigators and Agronomic Research Specialists to fully understand the multiple stages of crop development and the importance of each step involved and share experiences cross-functionally as needed;
+ Field selection, cooperator relations, capable of learning research equipment operations and basic maintenance (all types), field maintenance + data collection, basic agronomic knowledge/crop management, technically savy, adhere to compliance/safety policies, utilization of IT tools, time management, prioritization skills, self-motivated, good decision making abilities. Accountable for business unit or project results through leadership and coordination across site strategy, prioritizing and monitoring projects to ensure completion within deadlines and budgets. This is an Operations position responsible for maintaining and coordinating all slotting processes in a cost-efficient manner. Must maintain a balance between the Sysco Redistribution Center, merchandising and the selection pick path.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Determine warehouse placement of all incoming merchandise and ensures that merchandise is slotted within before receipt.
Decide placement of new item merchandising and reports slot to appropriate staff to efficiently store merchandise for future delivery.
Prepare a slot change memo identifying the rearrangement of products.
Move product, as needed, to make room for new products to efficiently utilize warehouse space and track product movement through the warehouse.
Enter slot changes into the inventory tracking system to ensure that all product locations can be identified.

Plan and prepare a draft of warehouse racking expansion, as request, to ensure the fullest utilization of warehouse space.
Establish additional racking components needs.

Ensure that assigned equipment is maintained and clean, and report repair or service needs to the equipment mechanic to reduce equipment damage.
Observe all safety rules, regulations, and sanitation policies to reduce accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.
Use equipment horns when driving out of storage areas into unobstructed view areas, and when entering walkways or row intersections to reduce accidents, injuries and equipment damage.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Safely transports product from the warehouse to the customer location and ensures product is delivered on a timely basis, according to assigned route.
+ Unloads product from trailer, by hand or using hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions and places in designated customer storage areas according to customer specifications and company standards (e.g. handling product according to preferred work methods, scanning product as it is delivered into the store).
+ Picks up, loads and unloads damaged goods and customer returns, and transports products back to the warehouse.
+ Ensures all paperwork is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines (e.g. DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehicle maintenance reports and pre and post-trip reports are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis, ensures all invoices are accurate and turned in daily and all damages and shortages are reported promptly).
+ Ensures all food safety protocols are met according to established guidelines (e.g. proper temperatures are maintained in the delivery vehicle, product is inspected for visible damages prior to delivery, product is delivered and stored to prevent cross contamination) and maintains sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer; assists with maintaining sanitary conditions in the warehouse and yard.
+ Follows preferred work methods at all times, and immediately advises management team of any unsafe conditions.
+ Maintains and safely operates all assigned equipment, including but not limited to hand cart, pallets, load bars, SLS unit, and personal protective equipment.
+ Develops and establishes good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication.
+ Communicates with management team regarding any deviations to route, trailer or loading issues and/or customer or product issues.
+ Safely transports product picked up via backhauls and line hauls and ensures picked up product is correct and is delivered on a timely basis, according to established company standards.
+ Works assigned schedule and works outside usual work schedule as needed to meet customer needs; exhibits regular and predictable attendance. Other duties as assigned by Management.
**REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**
+ High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred. Completion of a tractor trailer driving school will be accepted instead of, or in addition to a high school diploma.
+ Commercial Vehicle Drivers must have the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
**CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License. Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment.

**Position Summary:**
