Internship Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will support our engineering teams working towards our designs that are inspiring, demanding and highly collaborative. Some responsibilities include:
* Assist engineers in preparing design documentation
* Prepare AutoCAD and Revit drawings of Mechanical systems
* Assist engineers with design calculations and sizing building Mechanical systems
* Assist engineers with field investigations and construction site visits to observe
* Attend intern education program lunch-and-learn sessions
Internship Requirements:
The ideal candidate will enjoy a team environment and also flexible enough to work independently where needed. Candidates for this role will be eager to expand their knowledge by challenging themselves and using the highly technical resources around them.
Additional job requirements:
* Pursing a bachelor's Degree from accredited university in Mechanical engineering
* Must be at a minimum, completed your second year
* Previous engineering internship or co-op experience a plus
* Knowledge in the latest version of MEP AutoCAD and REVIT is a plus
* Basic knowledge in design and calculation software; MS Office Suite

Job Responsibilities
As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for representing the Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. You will be responsible for designing large projects, preparing reports and specifications, and providing a high level of technical leadership.
Additional responsibilities include:
Providing consulting services, including preparation of due diligence reports, gap analyses, and feasibility reports
Develop sustainable mechanical solutions, producing concepts and detailed drawings
Overseeing the production of drawings consistent with client requirements and standards
Coordinating with design team, owner, and contractors
Establishing design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects
Preparation of proposals and administering project contracts between SHG and the client, including Add Service Agreements
Conducting business development activities, participating in various trade organizations, and preparing presentations
Establishing project budgets and schedules
Participating in QA/QC process of completed work by staff
Performing staff resource management and review
Job Requirements
Successful candidates must have a current PE registration as an Electrical Engineer with a solid, and stable work track record. The capability to fully design mechanical systems for various building types not only commercial and mixed-use but also mission critical, life science and R+D facilities would be a major plus and good fit for this dynamic role.
Additional requirements of the Senior Mechanical Engineer include:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum of 8 years' experience working in a consulting firm
3+ year supervisory, Project manager
LEED AP accreditation, highly preferred
Candidate should possess a strong ability to coordinate electrical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and telecom, as well as its constructability and cost
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT experience
PE required

Leadership for Program Management at HDR in the West Region consists of capturing, overseeing, coordinating, directing and may serve as a Project Manager for the work of a multi-disciplinary team assigned to support the delivery of one or multiple transportation infrastructure program(s) under one contract.
In this role, the West Region Transportation Program Management Services Lead will develop relationships with clients seeking these services. Consulting services offered by this leader includes providing thought leadership, counseling clients on delivery strategies, program design, and offering recommendations on program governance. An important aspect will be to identify technical leadership within HDR that can assist on projects, including strategic, mega-projects and pursuits. This leader is accountable for supporting the growth of program management in the region, identifying evolving client needs, and pursuing growth opportunities that advance the positioning of HDR as a preferred service provider in the areas of program management.
This leader will report to the West Region Transportation Business Group Director.
Specific duties include:
* Support efforts to coordinate and manage quality and best practices used across the program management business class.
* Work with HDR's Transportation Program Management Director and other program management team leaders on positioning and delivery of projects while developing long-term tactical plans to best serve the needs of the client and HDR's Transportation program.
* Work closely with Area and Market Sector leadership to achieve yearly booking goals and continue growth of program management in the West Region.
* Work with Regional and Area leadership including Operations, Market Sector, Business Class and Cross Sector leaders to support staffing requirements for top quality project delivery, which may involve worksharing coordination.
* Internal and external client relationship management.

Primary Responsibilities
Our Northern California Transportation Business Group is looking for a strong Senior Environmental Transportation Planner with a thorough understanding and experience both supporting and managing a range of project types. The successful candidate for this position will be involved with working with our client, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in addition to other transportation agencies. The Senior Environmental Planner will report to the Environmental Transportation Planning Section Manager and will be an interdisciplinary team member who participates in transportation project development; prepares environmental analysis of proposed projects and design alternatives; identifies environmental impacts and formulates measures to mitigate impacts; prepares environmental clearance documents for infrastructure projects in compliance with all applicable local, State and Federal laws, regulations and policies, and has the ability to participate in construction monitoring and compliance reporting.

In the role of Electrical Design Coordinator/EIT, we'll count on you to:
Conduct analyses to develop electrical design designs and assist in the preparation of electrical plans and specifications. Perform routine electrical engineering assignments, with instruction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager regarding the expected results. Work on projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables. Projects may be related to technology clients, municipal, federal, and local government clients that include water/wastewater facilities, large pumping projects, military installations, building distribution systems and campus distribution systems under the supervision of senior electrical engineers and staff professional electrical engineers. Work on small projects or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects. Work with assistance from Project Engineers, other Electrical EITs or Technicians as needed.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
* Assist with designs for upgrades, expansions of medium voltage and low voltage distribution, and green field design.
* Prepare electrical design (plans and specifications) for projects per NFPA 70 requirements to include various systems such as switchgear, pumping plants, pumps, lighting, HVAC, fire protection detection and suppression panels, and other miscellaneous loads.
* Engineering of physical design (above & below grade) for conduit and cable routing in sufficient detail to construct.
* Assist with drawing preparation, markup, back check for electrical equipment\conduit arrangement drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Specify conduit and cable, prepare calculations to support the design.
* Assist with site surveys and verification of installation.
* Assist with power system studies, including arc flash assessment.

In the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:
* Assume the mechanical lead and be the Mechanical and Plumbing Engineer of Record (EOR) on many projects.
* Assume the mechanical lead and lead and coordinate mechanical and plumbing design through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project.
* Establish client relations, and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to mechanical systems.
* Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
* Coordinate workload to complete the documents on schedule.
* Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
* Review mechanical and plumbing documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
* Write and edit mechanical and plumbing specifications and select mechanical and plumbing equipment, systems, and devices.
* Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
* Provide construction contract administration as needed.
* Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators, or Mechanical CAD/BIM Technicians as needed.
* Track the financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust the work efforts with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-upon schedule.
* Work with the Project Manager, Regional Controller, and Regional Director for project reviews with corporate management as needed.
* Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
* Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Minimum ten (10) years' experience in mechanical and plumbing system design for federal, commercial, and/or institutional facilities
* Water/Wastewater, Science and Technology, Hospitality, and/or Finance facilities experience is a plus
* Project Management experience is a plus
* Proficiency in Revit, Trane Trace3D, IESVE, or similar software
* Experience in sustainable design/LEED desired, but not required
* Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
* A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings
* Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD
* Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience
* Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
