System test engineer job description

Leidos is actively hiring for a TMPS System Test Engineer to join our team at the Washington Navy Yard.

JOB SUMMARYThe System Test Engineer will work in support of a Product Assurance contract with the US Navy Cruise Missile Project. The work will be performed on a component of the Theater Mission Planning Center (TMPC) segment of the Tomahawk Weapon System (TWS) located at the Washington Navy Yard. This position is for a Tomahawk Planning System (TPS) System Test Engineer to eventually transition into a test engineer at the TMPC-level.
Primary Responsibilities
Will be the lead on doing requirements analysis; software design analysis, reviewing all specifications and updating or correcting as needed, user documentation inspection; develop test planning and the test execution (functional, integration, regression and more), evaluating the test results and submitting the reporting after completing the analysis, operational test scenario development, milestone review participation, and developing and executing site acceptance testing at multiple end-user locations as necessary.Domestic and some international travel may be required - possibly as high as 25% per year. Activities also include reviews and evaluation of products and processes and participation in various Engineering review boards.Works independently to achieve day-to-day objectives.Develops solutions to technical problems that may require collaboration with internal experts. Regularly communicates with internal project team members, management, and external organizations and customers as necessary.Ensures project schedules and performance requirements are met.Works with customer and the team to developer specific objectives and creates process to integrate those objectives.

Basic Qualifications
Operational experience with Tomahawk Planning System (TPS) mission planning is highly desired.Working knowledge of software engineering, software programming, databases including SQL, system interface testing, and test automation is a plus.Bachelor's degree in related field at minimum 4 years of related experience. Additional years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree.Active Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in computer applications languages technologies and/or capabilities required for this position.Good technical writing and communication skills.Experience with verification and validation test activities including development of test cases and procedures, execution of test procedures, documentation of test issues, and test reporting.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00

What You Will Do
We are a market leader in high-performance embedded GPS navigation receivers for military aviation applications. The Trimble receivers are deeply embedded in inertial navigation subsystems. In your role as a System Test Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement cost-effective methods for qualification verification testing of these receivers in state-of-the-art GPS test labs. You will also support products from initial development to end of life, including conceptualization, proposals, design validation, engineering changes, manufacturing problem resolution, quality issues, and development of outsourced testing requirements.
Prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test plans, procedures, fixtures, and equipment. Develop test automation of procedures, scenarios, equipment, and data analysis. Perform formal periodic test reviews.Analyze system behavior under operating scenarios to improve test efficiency and performance.Lead the design, development, integration, and release of test stations and techniques. Define, outline and perform the training and sustaining activity required to successfully manage test verification programs.Document methodology for test requirements, plans, procedures, and results. Develop, draft, release and maintain test procedures, and perform related Configuration Management activity. Ensure the quality and accuracy of released test documentation.Develop and publish product qualification test reports.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
BS or MS in EE, ME, or equivalent from an accredited institution.Lab experience manipulating signal generators, simulators, and signal measurement equipment including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.Programming experience using scripting languages such as Python.Data manipulation, screening, organization, and processing experience with Excel and custom programming.Track record demonstrating rigorous documentation, record keeping, formal data management, collaboration, and communication skills.

Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required. Applicants must clearly indicate citizenship and any previous DoD security clearance activity.

Minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

+ 5 years of experience with System Level test (e.g. New Product Introduction and HVM).

+ Experience in ASIC or SoC prototype bring-up, debug, and/or functional verification.

Preferred qualifications:

+ Master's Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

+ 10 years of experience with system-level testing, system validation, and/or product engineering within the industry.

+ Experience testing and characterizing CPUs, SerDes, Logic, and DDR/HBM subsystems.

+ Experience implementing secure manufacturing solutions including provisioning, programming, lifecycle management, and SoC security.

+ Experience in C#, .NET Framework, C/C++, Perl, or Python.

+ Knowledge of CPU architecture, CPU boot process, Kernel, and CPU performance.

You will be responsible for all aspects of System Level Test and Product Engineering activities. You will work with Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Architecture, Design, and Pre-silicon SoC Verification teams to define test methodologies and implement end-to-end manufacturing solutions.

+ Own, design, and validate System Level Test (SLT) hardware and software and work with cross-functional teams (e.g., ASIC/SoC architecture, software, product design, industrial design, program management, operations, finance, etc.) to deliver a successful product to market.

+ Define test requirements, assist in software bring up including traveling to manufacturing test sites for implementation, and work with ASIC vendors to create bench and automated handler-based solutions.

+ Work with software teams to evaluate integrated system and device performance across various operating conditions, characterize hardware/software interaction, and develop effective production screens to reduce Defective Parts per Million (DPPM).

+ Provide production sustaining support, including program updates, lot disposition, test time reduction, yield improvement, analysis, etc.
