What Does A System Validation Engineer Do At General Motors

* Responsible for the development and execution of robust validation plans that comprehend vehicle level features and systems that drive cross-functional requirements and integration, including regulatory compliance
* Leads defining validation criteria and methods for vehicle level feature/system definition and functionality to meet performance requirements
* Lead/Create test procedures for all Feature Technical Specifications/ System Technical Specifications, including performance requirements
* Support System Engineers in defining interface requirements across SMTs and Integration areas
* Responsible to work with and coordinate validation activities across multiple domains as required by features/system
* Provides validation subsystems and components expertise to System Engineering Team in order to successfully meet program deliverables
* Single point contact to help leverage appropriate subsystem/component expertise

* A minimum of 2 years of work experience with CAN/LIN/UDS communication protocols and CAN databases.
* A minimum of 2 years of work experience with vehicle testing tools such as Vector CANalyzer, ETAS Inca and dSPACE CalDesk.
* A minimum of 1 year of work experience related to functional safety documentation (development and assessment)
* Available to travel abroad and in US
* Preferred Qualifications
* The ideal candidate will have:
* OEM experience or Tier 1 experience preferred but not required.
* User experience with Hardware
* In-the
* Loop System including dSpace HW tools, ControlDesk and AutomationDesk.
* Basic knowledge of principles and practices of embedded software validation for automotive, commercial vehicle, off-highway, agricultural, construction and healthcare equipment.
* Development experience with C, C++, Java, or assembly-level code development, real time signal processing and I/O control.
* Ability to handle multiple complex tasks in parallel.
* Ability to work both independently and within a team.
* Ability to delegate activities, work, and requests to other work colleagues within and external to functional and reporting group.
* Self-motivated and strong commitment in daily activities.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and correspond with global network of teams, colleagues and interfaces in which English may be a second language.
