This is an exempt position, which is an entry level technical and analytical position assisting with the administration and support of the City of Plantation's security infrastructure. The Junior IT Security Administrator will help to implement security controls, conduct audits, and support security awareness initiatives to safeguard our systems from cyber threats. This role will also support the Help Desk as needed by providing technical assistance to end users. Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.Monitor and analyze network traffic, system logs, and alerts from security tools (such as firewalls, IDS/IPS) to detect signs of suspicious or malicious activity. Assist in the investigation and resolution of security incidents, including malware infections, phishing attacks, and unauthorized access. Conduct system vulnerability and compliance assessments and remediation across OS, Cloud, and Infrastructure Implement and monitor basic security controls such as access control lists, antivirus solutions, and encryption technologies. Conduct regular audits and reviews of user access, ensuring compliance with security policies and best practices. Assist with the creation and delivery of security awareness training programs, helping employees recognize and respond to cyber threats. Prepare reports on security incidents and trends, providing analysis and recommendations for mitigating future risks.
