Join our team as a Software Systems Engineer, where you'll bridge the gap between software engineers and user needs for the US Govt geospatial analytic workforce. You'll work closely with skilled technologists to understand mission requirements, ensure solutions are user-centric, and support effective use of geospatial tools to drive informed decision-making. This role offers direct collaboration with end users and technologists to ensure solutions are impactful, scalable, and mission aligned.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary liaison between software engineers and end users, gathering and translating user requirements into software use cases.
Facilitate and lead testing, training, documentation, and ongoing support to ensure effective user adoption of geospatial solutions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve workflows, incorporating user feedback into solution design, validation, and deployment.
Monitor user engagement and identify opportunities to enhance usability and impact of our custom geospatial capabilities.
Capture requirements from testing outcomes into the backlog and collaborate with development team to prioritize within the SAFe Agile Framework.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI with CI poly.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field, with 4+ years of professional experience (additional experience may substitute for degree).
Experience developing and implementing software test plans and procedures to ensure usability, reliability, and mission readiness for production-level software systems.
Skilled in developing clear, user-friendly documentation and training materials, and delivering training sessions to support user transition to new technologies.
Experience with planning for the full Software Development Lifecycle via SAFe Agile Framework as a development team member.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams and user communities, while working independently in mission-critical environments with evolving priorities; willing to work primarily onsite (80% or as mission needs dictate).
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a software test engineer in the IC and DoD
Experience with leading planning for the full Software Development Lifecycle via SAFe Agile Framework as an agile lead such as Product Owner or Scrum Master.
Experience working with commercial geospatial technologies such as Esri Enterprise as well as open-source tools like QGIS or GDAL.

This position is part of the Infrastructure and Operations division within IT Services, playing a critical role in managing the client's data center operations, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and hybrid cloud services. The Senior Systems Operations Engineer collaborates closely with Network Services, Information Security, Clinical Application Support, and Biomedical Technology teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable computing environments.
The role requires proactive system monitoring, incident response, and long-term strategic planning to ensure infrastructure services align with hospital objectives and regulatory requirements.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. ALM Tester/Business Analyst
Systems analyst job in Herndon, VA
ALM Tester/Business Analyst Company: HP Terms: 1 year contract, minimum Pay Rate: $40 Interview Process: Phone to Face to face (possible Skype for out-of-state) to Offer
Status: must be US citizen or Green Card Holder and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
The client requires a tester/business analyst with ALM expertise for immediate ALM work. This ALM project will take approximately 2 months, then the position will expand into a more traditional business analyst/tester role with possibly some PM work.
Note: No remote work. Must be onsite in Herndon, VA.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years' experience familiarity with different types of testing (system integration (SIT), customer acceptance (CAT), regression, functional, etc.) and an ability to plan/execute accordingly
• 3+ years' experience working as a business analyst gathering and documenting functional and non-functional requirements
• Needs to be ALM trained and can edit/program ALM test scripts which use Quick Test Pro/Unified Functional Testing
• Needs to setup eFMS with our ALM installation. This would include documenting all the setup steps so we could leverage for future installs
• Needs to migrate VersionOne stories into ALM. This is currently a manual process
• Needs to create/record automation test scripts that can be utilized in all future regression testing
• Ability to translate business requirements into Agile user stories
• Communications skills: speaking and writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience (technical and non-technical)
• Ability to effectively interface with clients to gather application requirements
• Ability to analyze functional requirements and to write component detailed design technical documents
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Java development is a plus
• Experience with Software Development Lifecycle experience in an Agile environment
• Ability to be flexible and work analytically
• Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to function independently to complete work assignments
