Job Description What you'll do: More specifically, responsibilities include the following duties: Conduct system performance analysis and provide solutions to support planning, operations, engineering, regulatory and financial needs of the company. Perform electrical engineering studies related to power system stability, reliability, and compliance. Perform transient and voltage stability studies, insulation coordination studies, electromagnetic field studies, and studies of geomagnetically induced currents and geomagnetic disturbance. Perform power-flow analyses in support of system dynamic stability, system restoration, and geomagnetic disturbance analyses. Develop and maintain power system models. Calculate electromagnetic interference for overhead and underground transmission lines. Technical Expertise: Keeps abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures and equipment. Understands and analyzes interrelationships between systems and component equipment. Interprets codes and regulations, and develops standards relevant to the area of assignment. Leadership & Guidance: Provides guidance and exercises judgment and discretion in providing guidance and direction to other Engineers. Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within the work group, team, department, corporate entity, or those external to the company as required to perform all routine engineering work. Ensures all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards and rules of the company and complies with the regulations and procedures required by external agencies. Introduction This position is within our systems engineering department. This division of the department's work is focused on mobile equipment's electronic control and electrical mechanical power transmission systems. Projects range from the component level through fully integrated system design and sub-system interaction. Key Responsibilities Electromechanical system design and component selection Size electric motors for propel, hydraulic pump, steering, and other electromechanical functions. Size and select mobile inverters and develop application software utilizing vendor software System design, hardware selection and software application development. Utilizing either a windows based graphical platform, vendor specific platforms, C /C++ variations Electrical schematic development in AutoCAD. Provide detailed responses to customer inquiries pertaining to electrical or electronic control components or systems. Typically, by email or telephone, but also through face-to-face meetings. Work with a team of applications engineers to support customers, field sales, internal customer service, and internal technicians. Work closely with other members of the application engineering team to review and share product knowledge. Regular communication with field sales team members to develop customer specific hydraulic and or electronic control system solutions. Travel to customer's location for system start up, troubleshooting, and training Desired Education & Qualifications B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical or Electrical Technology Desirable Skills & Experience Comfortable with multitasking and working in a team setting CAN protocols ( CAN OPEN, J1939 ) System FMEA analysis Hands-on technical aptitude DC electrical symbols and control methods Electric Motor types and control methods Battery technology ( Lead Acid, AGM, Lithium ) DC control wiring methods and skills Closed loop feedback systems ( PI / PID control theory ) Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook) Programming experience ( C, C++, PLC, JAVA, XML, HTML ) AutoCAD / Inventor or other 2D and 3D platforms
