As part of the global controls team, you will work with highly motivated experts and innovators in the data center industry. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). Using Amazon leadership principles, you will develop new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space. AWS Data centers have multiple components such as generators, uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers [air-cooled and water-cooled], pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, air economizers, etc. All these components have local control systems that interact with each other via open and/or proprietary communications protocols. The BMS is the primary method of control of all mechanical systems within a data center. The EPMS is the primary method of monitoring all electrical systems within a data center. Key job responsibilities As a Data Center Controls Engineer you will: • Troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis or Corrective Action for BMS and EPMS related issues in AWS data centers. • Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of BMS and EPMS systems. • Provide technical assistance and support to operations during life cycle of the data center. • Review results and action items from the quarterly maintenances for BMS and EPMS and take actions to get them resolved. • Develop BMS & EPMS projects scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of efforts (LOE) to projects requested by customers and stakeholders. • Manage scope, schedule, finance and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects in AWS data centers. • Assist in procurement related activities including request for quotation/proposals, responding to request for information, review of vendors proposal and issuance of purchase orders. • Participate in AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate BMS and EPMS technical support to in-service data centers. • Attend project related meetings, coordinate with project leaders and regularly report status to Controls and stakeholders management. • Support Controls projects related commissioning activities in the data centers. • Review, implement, troubleshoot and iterate on the controls sequence of operation (SOO) and provide necessary feedback to the design team. • Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces. • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements and navigate challenging situations. • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts. • Frequently visit (locally) assigned in-operation data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, supervise vendor's work to ensure compliance with the scope, design, SOO and applicable local codes. Responsibilities & Qualifications RESPONSIBILITIES Under general supervision, assist in the design, configuration, and troubleshooting of the VTC collaboration infrastructure Provide engineering support for design, configuration, installation and sustainment of all software and hardware infrastructure including patch and vulnerability management Work on VTC tasks/projects as designated by the Team Lead and/or PM Coordinate with the Vendor PM, Government PMO, and government user representatives to ensure accurate solutions and user satisfaction on technical matters Develop required specifications for simple to moderately complex troubleshooting Provide technical escalation support for all VTC, Streaming Video and IPTV/Digital Signage trouble- tickets that cannot be resolved by the VOC Technical Admins Provide coordination with Data Center Managers requesting rack space, power, and connections to infrastructure devices Provide coordination requesting subnet and VLAN be created for the VTC, IP/TV DS infrastructure when deploying new installs Perform CODEC updates and other technical administrative duties as assigned Assist the team in providing 24/7 onsite support for critical VTC service issues, including fault isolation, performance analysis, and incident management Support the team in the installation and troubleshooting of VTC endpoints within the DLA enterprise VTC infrastructure Create, update, and manage trouble tickets in the DLA Service Now ticketing system Maintain and update the Configuration Management (CM) process, tracking changes to the DLA Enterprise VTC Network Perform proactive maintenance and Tech Refresh planning for VTC infrastructure hardware/software Ensure all VTC components are configured per DISA STIGs, Federal IA policies, and US CYBERCOM directives Provide software and configuration updates as required by DOD IA directives Provide over-the-shoulder training and/or familiarization to required personnel on all VOC activities including, infrastructure configuration, deployment, architecture and engineering, when required Create and update documentation, including CONOPS, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides Must, at times, be able to perform above or below acting position to fulfill duties of VTC Administrators or VTC Leads REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certifications - Category IAT Level II (one of the following): CCNA Security CySA+ GICSP GSEC Security+ SSCP Computing Environment Certifications: 200-301 Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) AND (one of the following within 6 months of start date): 100-150 Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking 100-160 Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Cybersecurity Clearance: Must possess Secret Clearance with IT-I Sensitivity Experience: Two to Five (2-5) years of progressive Information Technology (IT) experience in the Video Teleconferencing and/or Networking field, including deployment, trouble shooting, and supporting VTCs in a dynamic environment. They maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment that supports servers that must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Equipment will include but is not limited to stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.
