SimVentions is seeking a System Administrator to maintain servers for compliance with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) policies for Linux and Windows-based operating systems. We are looking for an out-of-the-box thinker equally comfortable performing installs, patches, upgrades, and troubleshooting for servers as they are building new infrastructure servers or solving complex problems related to Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipelines. This position is located at NAVAIR Station Pax River in St. Mary's County, MD and requires daily on-site presence. Clearance: A Top-Secret Clearance is required for this position, though an employee would be permitted to start work with an interim clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance. Requirements: At least five years of hands-on experience working within UNIX/Linux and Windows environments Experience in DoD Information Assurance/Cyber policy and procedures to include hardening of systems, implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and scanning Experience with Linux Server to include the build, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as addressing, service requests, routine sever maintenance (firmware, failures, hardening, etc.), and server consolidation. Experience with UNIX/Linux, Red Hat, CentOS (Linux). DoD 8140 & 5239 compliant (Security + certified and OS certificate/certification) (formerly 8570). A background or working knowledge of scripting and automation tools Demonstrated understanding of system security principles and experience executing hardening techniques Responsibilities: Participating in weekly routine maintenance tasks Gathering requirements, developing and conducting design reviews Installing, configuring and managing the Linux operating systems and related toolsets Installing and troubleshooting common industry COTS and GOTS applications Functional knowledge of backup and disaster recovery technologies Maintaining, administering and patching systems for optimum performance and security Migrating or updating systems Responding to system failures promptly to bring applications back online Building new infrastructure servers Performing Continuous Monitoring actions for systems and infrastructure including scanning, DoD STIG application and other Cyber compliancy actions Updating and maintaining documentation and knowledge base, including system descriptions, procedures, events and processes Work in an Agile scrum methodology to track and report on tasking Preferred Skills and Experience: Experience using container orchestration and management tools (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker) Experience with CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications. Education: BS in a technical field (Computer Science, Data Science, or Operations Research preferred) Compensation: Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements. The projected annual compensation range for this position is $$90,000 - $$120,000 (USD).
