A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

As a Systems Administrator, you are responsible for responding to and assisting clients with resolving common technical issues, while meeting customer service and response time (SLA) objectives. You serve as an escalation point for the Support Desk to resolve complex issues and provide onsite and remote support to our clients who have critical response time requirements for their business technology systems. With urgency, you manage your daily schedule and are always happy to help. You are self-motivated to find ways to improve both client systems and your own technical knowledge.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with customers to troubleshoot technical computer issues and fully documents actions and results.
  • Configures new equipment, systems and software for customers.
  • Updates technical documentation detailing the customer’s computer environment and configurations.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks on PCs and servers.
  • Participates in team meetings by reporting status of action items and helping to identify and resolve service delivery and customer issues.
  • Ensures appropriate data security and data backup processes and systems are in place to protect the client’s business systems.
  • Serves as escalation support for Support desk Admins to resolve complex client issues.
  • Maintains relationships with assigned clients to meet client retention goals.
  • Manages daily schedule to meet the demands of clients.
  • Works with Project teams as needed to meet client needs


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Networking, Office365,
  • And RMM and PSA tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer networks and security.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC troubleshooting.

Peraton is hiring a Training Center / Lab Support System Administrator (network admin) to join our Cyber Mission business unit in Ft. Washington, MD. As a Systems Administrator on our team, you will support one of the largest enterprise-wide engineering contracts within the Intelligence Community. This is a full-time position requiring 1880 hours of support per year; and work is performed at a customer location. As Training Center / Lab Support System Administrator on our team you will provide support required to operate and maintain all hardware and software in compliance with established policies required by the customer for their production and training networks, as well as responsible for establishing and maintaining user accounts and help desk functions for staff and students.

Qualifications

Individual Capabilities/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or other related discipline plus at least 10 years of systems admin experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 14 years of systems admin experience would also be acceptable.
  • Must meet DoD Directive 8570 IAM Level 1 requirements (Security + at a minimum).
  • Experience providing Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution; and providing support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintaining IT systems. Senior level experience is required as remote support is not authorized.
  • Experience managing system requirements and deriving requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s) Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), Secure the Enterprise/Secure the Network (STE/STN).
  • Experience providing support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remaining involved in the resolution process.
  • Experience optimizing system operations and resource utilization; performing system capacity analysis and planning; and developing and implementing solutions.
  • Experience building, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining virtual/storage environments, to include network security availability.
