In 1972, he remodeled the Leslie's Chicken Shack at 2201 S. 1st St into Tony's Pizza Cave, which later became the first restaurant in the Crystal's Pizza chain.
Waugh sold the Taco Bueno and Crystal's Pizza chains in 1981.
In 1981, British food manufacturer Unigate paid $32.5 million to acquire Taco Bueno.
In 1996, Taco Bueno was sold to Carl's Jr.'s franchisor CKE Restaurants.
